I agree that it's inconvenient, and double posting can be a mess.

Dropping the acronym was only meant to be referential. You might not remember any recent mass spam attacks from anyone, due to a few factors. Primarily, being that they're dealt with in a very timely fashion as they go up. So yes, the mods and admins are very handy. The idea is to avoid making more work where it gets beyond the point of invisibility to the average user, though. Broken pages are a good way to make things worse.

So, obviously, images are going to be limited in posts. There's been some talk about site updates to accommodate content. Can you recommend a limit that's not sky-high which you think would be fair? If you want to post 20 images every post, you're going to have the admins shaking their heads. All it takes is 1 mb per image, 10 images per post, and 10 posts to a page. Then you've got a 100mb page. Most spammers aren't that malicious, but there are concerns about what would be a reasonable solution, no matter what you assume the default.

And yeah, I'm aware that a single person can make a 100mb image no sweat, although a host for a single file that size isn't exactly easy to come by. You'd use up most free servers' allotted bandwidth very very fast. So instead, you use as many different servers as possible to bring down the page. That's not a matter of cleanup as it is server-side maintenance, and we've only got one very busy Shane to do that kind of thing, at the moment.

20 images per post is a good sort of compromise, although 25 might be a bit more ideal

also it's not like i'm going to suddenly inject 20 images into each of my posts if this happens

It would be nice if we could just license trusted members to post images to a higher limit. We'll look into it.

Well, you could allow a higher picture limit based on a member's post count.

It's not really foolproof, but it's better than nothing.
