why is the battlefield in the read only section?

why was it shut down? I was planning to make a big comeback battle topic and everything and upon my return I find that it's been mooved to the archives that can't be posted in. could someone please explain?

I was wondering the same thing, I've just recently returned myself. My guess is that it simply didn't have enough activity anymore. The entire forum itself isn't quite the active community I remember, it's almost depressing in a way, but as long as there's still awesome people here, no matter how few, I'll stick around. We have memories if anything.

It was dead for months. If you'd like to do RP battles, make a thread for it in Misc, Art&Lit, or any forum that your theme might pertain to.

The forums' speed has definitely declined to the minimum necessary to keep VGF alive, but I and plenty of others don't have any terrible need to "leave forever" (nor does anyone) so there's no harm in hanging around with some old friends!

but the battlefield was the thing that got me to join in the first place, and the reason I kept returnng to vgf, to fight old friends and new challengers alike.

I'd run it myself if that's what it would take to bring it back.

I'd definitely do a few battles myself. I'm not sure if just two people is enough to bring back a whole board though.

hmmm... I know a few people IRL that might be interested, but we'd need to get the battlefield back up first.

I'd be willing to join a battle RP if it was made. Still not sure if it's necessary to bring back the entire battlefield for one RP though...

Didn't RP Battles used to happen in Misc. in the first place until they made a separate forum for it?

At the time we made the decision to archive the old threads, the Battlefield had seven "current" topics. And by current, I mean they had sporadic posts stretched over the previous year. The forum was extremely dead and there was no positive purpose to it anymore. We will not reopen the forum on promises of activity alone. If you can create enough activity and rebuild something of a battling community FIRST, then we will consider bringing the forum back from the archives. But to do that, you have to prove there's a reason for it. Battle threads are welcome in the Art&Writing forum, or the Misc. Invite people to participate. Get the battles going. Then we'll look at giving you a designated space for them.

Welcome back, by the way. It's good to see an old face.

Totally acceptable to have a battle thread, and it will get more readers in the Misc instead of the graveyard for battle threads that Gunjin has been for the past few years.

P much this. But I very much agree with SD, it was and is pretty dead. We need to get more activity around the subject and get a new battlefield community going before it can actually come back... So yeah I made a group...
