Lockjaw is very different.
T-spins aren't an aspect of a game, they're an aspect of a rotation system. What spins works depends on the rotation system. You can't clear 3 lines with a T in Gameboy Tetris or TGM. If you don't like T-spins, you can change the rotation system. The ones I know of are SRS, ARS, TOD, Tengen, and Nintendo (GB/NES) Or, if you like the T-spins but not the scoring? You can change to a scoring system that doesn't reward them.
So whether or not it has T-spins is up to you.
Everything else is customizable too. The speed curve - try out 'death mode' for a challenge, the number of piece previews (one to eight), whether you have hold piece or not, the gravity type (try out cascade gravity, naive is default), the lock delay, the sideways speed, the piece generator, and so many other things. Even the size of the playfield is customizable. It has support for skins, which a guy at tetrisconcept took advantage of and made like 100, even the size of the playfield is customizable. It really is 'Tetris the way you want it.'

No one will be playing Dead Rising in twenty years, but people will still be playing Tetris, as they've already been doing for twenty years. Dead Rising will never have the replay value Tetris has.

Really? You think a game with a storyline can outlive an abstract puzzle game? And you think Dead Rising will last 20 years?

So, what, there's an endless 'survival' mode? Games like these need plots to help drive them. Either way, the fun decreases over time as you go through the same storyline (sure, multiple endings, but it doesn't do much) or play a pointless endless mode which gets boring quickly. And, yes, tetris's endless mode is also boring, which is why not a single good tetris player I know plays endless except for practice.
Plot-driven games are a lot of fun on the first playthrough, but they lack staying power.
