i am logged in, but the shout box doesn't think so

There is a separate logon for the shoutbox. I don't use it, so I don't know how to get it. Look around for a thread which explains this, either in the News forum or this forum.

You have to request a Shoutbox user. Check the stickied thread in the misc forum.
