I took Steam Lord for his first "walk" today

He was doing pretty well until the bigass swan scared him so much he absolutely HAD to climb up onto my shoulders.

You crazy Australians, walking your cats.

What's next? Teaching your dogs to ask for a cigarette?

Don't worry, AI. Your shoulder will get so used to claws digging in.

Also, make sure you scruff little Steam Lord by the back of the neck if he's hard to get off. It doesn't hurt them yet triggers their body to relax. I still remember doing it to my younger cat when he was terrified of these three HUGE sheep dogs walking out of the vet's office. Little bastard was so far in that I think I felt blood dripping down my back and chest.

I beg to differ and I find no biggie taking (when I'm not horse ridin') my cats, dog and ferrets for a wee stroll round the "absolutely beautiful" Kent countryside! Tis actually quite relaxing in my opinion; so fair play to AI for havin' the decency to take Steam Lord trekkin' for exercise is crucial to their health; pets that don't get out and get excercise a few times a day are much more prone to depression - than a pet that is active. Hell I always make sure my animals get enough excercise each and everyday, for without it, they would most certainly develop seriously MAJOR health issues.

Now takin' girlfriends for walkies is a entirely different issue/experience altogether, and perhaps an utter nightmare - nag nag bloody nag is all they do.

Teaching your dog to beg for cigarettes?...that's pretty awesome. I only ever bothered teaching my dog to steal the neighbours' paper on command.
