Happy: Yesterday my cousin got engaged to his girlfriend.

Sad: The news made be a bit depressed about my current (and seemingly hopeless) single status.

This reminds me of a really good Pizzicato Five song... I think it was called "Happy Sad."

That being said, it's normal to feel a bit jealous of others when things are looking up for them and not so much for you. But, as cheesy and trite as this sounds, you do have the power to change the situation.

Sean, don't give up. Some of my friends recently got engaged and I tried hard to reconnect with them, and unlike most couples they've been very receptive to me. I'm sure your cousin will do the same to you.

I feel the same way you do a lot (and especially around Valentine's Day, when at my school there was this patronizing tradition of bragging about your significant other and/or how much sex you have. You're a good guy Sean and you'll find someone soon. -CSM
