If the hinting is obvious than it is useless. Just approach with all the confidence in the world (after all, girls LOVE a guy with confidence) and ask her t odo something with you. Ask for her number too. Now it may seem that she would never give it to you, but its no hard task.

I kid! Well, let's see... poem... I would never do something like that (I cannot do poems). I don't know. But, as long as it says bunch of nice things about her, makes her feel special because you care about her... Hopefully, you're doing just fine.

Very up in the air if you ask me. It depends upon how close you are to you and if she won't freak out because of it. I mean, if she has a guess at your intentions (and approves), it's a very good thing. If she doesn't know your intentions but likes you well enough, it's a very good thing. If she's anything from hesitant to not interested, it could really go anywhere from nonchalance to a very bad thing.

Poems ..... I did that for one of my old girlfriends, she thought it was cool, and I got a kiss out of it, even if it sucked to me.
But I digress, Poems are good ideas, just make sure that it was from your heart, made by you (If you have copyied it they'll find out, girls always do find out.), and completely full of nices things about her. The it was good idea.
If it was about Death, blood and about inflicting harm on ones self, then that is a bad idea. Unless she likes that sort of thing.

The last poem I wrote for a girl was about or 5 years ago. AND THAT WAS AN ACROSTIC!!! This was a lyric. I think she still likes my best friend though. She has been more open and talkative to me though.
