Best way to ask someone out? - VGF

See title. I'm really shy around girls I'm attracted to, but one in particular in one of my classes I fancy, and she seems particularly friendly towards me (Specifically, I'm the only dude she talks to in that class and a couple of times she has turned around, looked at me and smiled.) So, I figure I may have a shot. Plus, the anxiety from not knowing how she feels has driven me to the brink of insanity! At this point, I feel that it would be better to just confess and know for certain how she feels, even if it means rejection, than continue with the angst of not knowing!

Anyway, I'm going to ask her out next time I see her, hopfully next Tuesday or Thursday, and I've (over)analyzied the situation, and I've come up with the following ideas.

1. Informing her of the party on next Thursday that one of the organizations I'm involved in is planning, and try to convince her to go to it (Since I'm going regardless) and then hang out with her during the party. To me, this would seem to be the least risky way to do it,(I can say all this without being nervous) but she might not understand that I'm trying to ask her out, and she'll instead think that we're just hanging out as friends. Plus, I fear that she may agree to it, and then end up not showing up. I'm just unlucky like that. -_-

2. The same as #1, except actually asking her for me to take her there. This eliminates the problems the first presents, but this, along with the rest of the scenarios, feels like there's a greater chance of being rejected.

3. Just plain ask for her phone number, and if she doesn't comply, I guess I'll know why. -_- Then again, she may agree to it, but think I'm just asking as a friend.

4. Ask to help her study for the upcoming exam for class. I'm sure she'd understand the implications.......either that or just think I'm just being a nice person.

5. Just walk up to her and ask, "Hey, you wanna go out sometime?" This one and #2 are probably the ones with the greatest risk, and I don't think I even have the courage to do them, but they also present the best payoff if she agrees, for they'll be NO questioning her feelings then.

Okay, which one do you guys think I should do?

BTW, I'm in college if that matters at all.

Dude. Here's what I want you to do. Just go for it. Number 2 would be your best bet. Get it out, and see where it leads, otherwise you won't get anywhere.

I pretty much agree with HotD on this. Although, I prefer chaining myself to them (May not get the same results as what I do.).

One more thing before you're done--do it in person. Asking someone out over AIM or in a note is the girliest thing you can do.

Just be yourself. I am also shy but if you want something bad enough, you'll go and get it. Just take a deep breath and ask her if she wants to go to Tim Horton's for a drink or something. That usually works.
