What is your opinion?

Hi friends, I am 21 years old, 5’6” tall and130 pounds in weight. I really don't want to gain weight but definitely need to stop eating so much sugar and bread all the time. I am not a huge meat eater, but definitely not a vegetarian either. Any suggestions, that if I chose to go on this kind of diet, then how can I avoid gaining weight as I obviously won't be getting my normal calorie intake and I will end up gaining weight. Every time I try to watch what I eat. If I go on a diet, I'll be fat? What is your opinion?

Eat when you are hungry. Don't eat when you are not hungry.

Hi and welcome to VGF... a magical place filled with madness!!! *gives you a marshmallow* Made especially with faerie-sugar for you!!

I may have gotten a tad confused what you were trying to communicate there... but I'll try to help anyways!!!! You mention if you choose a diet... what diet???

From your statistics, you sound in the lower side of the height-weight ratio... does putting on 5lbs of weight concern you? Because looking at healthy weight ranges for your height, it shouldn't.

Well, 'diets' are those tricky things where if we start depriving ourselves of certain things, we're most likely going to crave them and make it worse.

I need for you to think about a couple of things; why do you eat? Do you eat when you feel emotional (happy/sad/depressed/angry/etc.) or because you actually feel hungry?

What do you want to achieve for yourself?

Do you think the way you've been brought up has any influence on the types of food you eat? (Many families have specific 'rules' about food and where it should be eaten and what food is suitable at what time of day... etc..)

Do you feel comfortable challenging any bad habits you've been brought up with?

Once you get through them... there's more to consider.

What information are you specifically looking to get? How to eat healthier? Or something different? Maybe if you answer all the questions, we can help you better!!!

I'm not really sure why this is in the relationships forum, but oh well.

Anyway, try to diet psychologically. Tell yourself that you don't want fatty foods, but rather healthy ones. Try to convince yourself that fatty foods don't appeal to you. It may sound silly, but it usually works.

If you're 5'6", 130lbs, I don't think there's much of a weight issue. If you really want to eat healthy, just watch your sugar and fat intake, I guess. Make sure you exercise too. You could be the healthiest eater and still gain weight because you aren't exercising.

Just do what you are suggesting, don't eat too much Sugar or Bread, have a regular intake of Meat and Veggies, and Exercize like you've never exercized before.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Oh, and bread isn't that bad.
