Because I can tell you right now, the NES, while it wasn't always as polished as the SNES, was just a god as far as the gaming industry is concerned. It crushed all the competition, and it sucked up every last game being produced at the time. The SNES' best titles were only able to exceed that when they took full advantage of the new technical and control capabilities - most of the games that are fondly remembered could have just as easily been on the NES, and were often times merely sequels in the shadow of former NES series. Now, that's not to say the SNES wasn't the golden age of gaming - it was, in its own way. But the NES truly debuted the modern game - playable, plotted (if not well-written- plots in video games barely existed beforehand), and exciting. The SNES was merely a continuation of the former generation's endeavors. While I absolutely love the SNES, I'm still much more likely to play an NES game. It's not necessarily fair, because it's all got a much fresher impression, having come first. ![]() [ October 03, 2005, 06:51 AM: Message edited by: enjoyFantasticPr1cedDrugs ] |

I only became addicted to gaming upon getting my SNES... so I'm biased if I chose a system based on games!! ![]() |

Not ragging on the SNES at all, but back when you had an NES, there's was a lot more imagination to the words "imagination station" - why the hell I said that I do not know. |

And the SNES also has Super Mario RPG, one of my top 3 favirite games. Plus, they even remade the old classics of the NES on Super Mario Allstars. I think everything about it is better than the NES, except for the classic feel of it. |

MWAHAHAHAHA!!! |

Very few games for the NES come to mind that required me to spend all my time completing. |

I think that the SNES was better than the NES because of its better graphics, sound, and games(You ain't findin' Mario Kart or DK Country on an NES!). However, the NES does have that nostaligia goin' for it, though. |

Personally, I prefer the NES's sound simply because its synthesizers carried a unique texture that people strive this day to match. It could have used some improved sample abilities like the SNES had for games, but it's kind of achieved a cult status in the applications of its synths. ![]() |

Either way, the other is going to find out what you said and beat you up. |

Don't get me wrong, I love both, but having Zelda 1-2, Super Mario 1-3, Marble Madness, and Crystalis just beats out my number of games I prefer on the SNES. |
