My own reaction was much more restrained, mostly because I got mine secondhand. And it wasn't Christmas. And I had to pay for it. And I was fifteen. And I'd broken my hand recently, so I couldn't play it for a few weeks. Still, better than a kick in the junk, eh?

Saw it a long time ago, but liked it nonetheless.

I can't remember my reaction. I remember my reaction when I got Ocarina of Time though.

Friend:"Wanna play my N64?"
Me:"What's a N64?"
*I see it*
Me:"The controler looks retarted."

From first glance, the controller looks stupid. However, when you actually USE IT, it's arguably the most comfortable game controller ever.

You know, the way people talk about how comfortable controllers are these days, you'd think the SNES controller had been composed of broken glass and razor blades held together with barbed wire. I'm just glad none of you were around in the heyday of the Odyssey2; the square corners and knobby metal joystick might've killed you all dead.

Yeah, I don't understand the need to grip the controller with python-like tenacity. I've never gotten sore from using an NES or SNES controller, or even a Gameboy.

Carpal tunnel makes all controllers painful. Thus their design loses all point.

Oh, right, only I overuse the computer to THAT extent.

With games using the stick maybe. But with the control pad, NO, NO, AND NO.

Besides the GB adapter I don't think the ontrol [ad was ever needed in any N64 games I played.

It's definitely a necessity for Mortal Kombat Trilogy (the digital pad). Ever try playing a tournament fighter with an N64 analog? Not so hot.
