Paper Mario!!!

It's mine!!! *hugs box and cartridge* Wheeeeeeeeeeee.

I just picked it up this week!!! I know... you're thinking only 6 - 8 years too late but if you understood the difficulty in getting a PAL Version of PM, you may appreciate my newest game acquisition!!! The box is in awesome condition, the cartridge looks fantastic but there's no manual. Oh well.

Unfortuntely, due to circumstances beyond my control, I cannot play it for a couple of days!!! *sad-nose*

But to make this brighter... how about you tell me what your favourite part of this game was? And, balance it with what you felt could have be done to improve it?

I never played the game, but I bought the strategy guide once. My grandpa gave me the money for it!

He died later that year...

My favorite part of this game... EVERYTHING! BEST. GAME. EVER.
Although if I had to choose a specific part, it'd be
Spoiler Below
Chapter 4 in Shy Guy's Toybox.

No improvements. Even if it'd could be done better, good things should be left as they are, or you might just end up making it worse.

Now why would I call it the best game ever? Well, I usually bring this game up as a good example that gameplay isn't everything (really critics, it isn't, stop underestimating aesthetics), because the goodness of this game lies in the...
.
.
.
.
atmosphere.
That's right. I wouldn't love this game so much if it wasn't for that lovely feeling you just get when walking through Toad Town or hanging in Koopa Village. I could (and I have) spend hours just going for a stroll around Goomba Village. Because it's a lovely world, and that feeling... that feeling...

Not to be rude, but what was the point of buying the strategy guide, but you didnt buy the game itself, and for the second part,.....bummer..

I liked the parts where you got to control Peach the best. I have no idea why, other than the fact that I found it really fun to put twenty cups of salt in the cake you have to bake for Gourmet Guy.

The part on the island with all the Yoshis is my favorite part of the main game. The koopa who goes in the volcano... Er, what's his name? I can't believe I've forgotten that, I've beaten the game over twenty times... Anyway, this koopa who's an explorer goes into the volcano with you. I always thought he was really funny.

There's nothing that could have really improved the game. Maybe faster moving text would have made it better, but aside from that, the game was pretty much perfect in my eyes.

Like most people have said, I think every part is good. But it really is the atmosphere of the game that makes me want to play it over and over again. I can't even explain it really. My favorite part has to be on Yoshi's Island. The jungle, the volcano, I love the mood of that part.

Spritedude is a winner.

Finally someone who agrees with me. In every previous instance, people have attempted to prove me wrong and enlighten me about how the game's "good gameplay" is what keeps me coming back...

Favorite part? 7th Dungeon/Castle/-insert whatever term you want-.

Improvements? A few more levels to even out HP, MP, and BP, but that'd be it.

Pretty much everything could have been improved, from the simpleton puzzles (there's a crack in the wall, bomb it! Here's some water, swim across it!), to the weak bosses, to the fuzzy graphics, and especially the incredibly annoying soundtrack.

Where are these lemmings going? Not the Super Nintendo Super Shire! They know to go to Codiekitty.com now!

I bought the guides for New Super Mario Bros., Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Super Mario Advance 2 and 4, even though I didn't own ANY of them. Why?

Because they're Mario, goddammit.

For the likes of me, Paper Mario was a disappointing turn for what could have been a promising sequel to Super Mario RPG. Nintendo tends to give their older fans the middle finger when it comes to being "innovative". They can go ahead and innovate all they like in new franchises.. Wait, new what? Oh, right, Nintendo doesn't do that.

And I own a copy of NARC.
