It was okay. But I think it would've been better if it was a cartoon.

I pretty much agree with Marth. In itself, the movie was great. It just wasn't a great Mario movie, since it strayed from the plot so much it sort of lost that Mario feel(looking at the plot, it looks more like a TMNT spinoff than it does a Mario movie).

If you just remember how inaccurate it really is, and can laugh that off, then sure it's a good movie!

I also think it would make a good rif.

Thumbs up

I like it. Bob Hoskins was perfect for Mario.

I thought it was alright except for the evo/de-evolution bit. That just really didn't fit in, IMO.

I thought the acting was good, and the whole "other dimension" thing was an adequate story for the "Koopa World" thing...but the evolution de evolution threw me off, plus, since when are goombas towering lizards..?

The goombas were just so goofy, but it was still hard not to like just because it was a Mario movie

i liked the movie a lot, i just wish it had more of a classic mario-based plot line with more nintendo references. btw, is it just me or when mario and luigi charge up their rocket booster things, it makes the sound when mario dies in the original SMB?

^Yeah, a lot of these ancient threads feature 'orphaned' posts like that. Think it's a glitch resulting from forum upgrades or some such. Don't worry about it.

Haven't watched the SMB movie in quite a while. It was good clean stupid fun.

[EDIT: Hey, weird---I have a duplicate account.

Holy topics from 2003, Batman.

Stu, there are artifacts from certain accounts not translating to vBulletin, ever since the server made the change from UBB. You'll probably see older posts by me around here somewhere, if you dig back. They actually don't have any accounts associated with them, afaik.

I liked the SMB movie, btw. It's hardly high art, or even faithful, but I never expected a faithful live-action film to even be possible at the time.
