It came complete with case and manual in very good condition, as well as a pamplet advertising other games released by H.E.S. - the only thing missing from the set was the dongle you're supposed to use to hookup the game, to piggyback the 10NES lockout chip from another cart. At first, I just used a Game Genie (which I also bought locally - woot for gametraders) to get around the lack of a dongle - the game genie itself overrides the need for a lockout chip with its own. Later on, after buying more local PAL games, I decided to take a risk and disconnect the pin on the 10NES chip in my NES, to stop it preventing my NTSC NES from running PAL games. The top-loading NES 2 was never sold with a region control mechanism, and I briefly considered buying one online, but decided Ebay prices were too high for something I essentially already owned. A bit later on I scored a multi-cart, also made by HES, which actually has Chiller on it again. I haven't gotten the 2-player to work on it, but all of the games are functional to my knowledge. I do admit I've got a copy of FF7 floating around, although I don't have a PSX. It belonged to a friend of mine, but I think he's forgotten about it. I'll probably get FF8 and 9 if I see them. They do crop up from time to time... Felt like relating that little tidbit. |

Home Improvement, Star Fox, Sonic 3D Blast, and Knuckles Chaotix are collectible because they are hard to come by. Sonic 2 Beta and Rockman X3 are uber-rare, simply because they are unlicensed. |

Go ahead and make one of those if you want, no one's stopping you. This topic's subject was "What's the rarest retro thing you've found locally?", not "How many rare games do you own?" |
