U-four-ia

Recently acquired a copy of this NES game, and I have to say it is a must-try for anyone who likes a good platformer title.

While the premise is a bit odd, some of the best classic franchises have been strange to say the least. The game plays out in a small (but rather expansive for an NES game with such graphical depth) Metroid-esque world. You travel around collecting your missing companions, who each have their own unique abilities (high-jumping, swimming, etc). The graphics are top notch for an NES title and the music and sound are very pleasing as well (the music is somewhat like a more-upbeat Metroid at times).

As far as play control goes, it's fairly standard but unique in its own way. To stomp an enemy, you hold down while in the air. Afterwards, the enemy will either drop health or become a throwable object. You can defeat most minor enemies by stomping them, but throwing enemies is used to defeat most bosses. You can also acquire a chargable special attack for the 4 different playable characters. While there isn't a save function, there is a password feature very similar to the Mega Man graph-code system.

Huh. I've never even heard of this game. Did you just have a ROM, or did you actually get a cart?

It's nice to know someone else has played this game and enjoyed it. Personally, I find it like a mix of Metroid and Wario Land.

The Wario Land reference is definitely appropriate.

I played a ROM, ML, since the game only saw European and Japanese releases.

Cool. I wouldn't mind you sending the ROM my way sometime, then.

Hmmm. Sounds a bit like Klonoa. Maybe I'll give it a look.

It's also time to kill some clowns.

A game where you climb ropes made of drool is a decent game in my book.
