Not every Zelda game is directly connected to eachother, despite having very similar gameplay(ALttP and LA is a shining example here). Most Mario games have the same basic story, but that doesn't make them come right after another. Sunshine is considered to come after something besides Super Mario 64 despite being the new version of the 3d game itself. |

To me, it's kind of like comparing a bus to a train. Essentially does the same thing, but goes about it in a completely different way whenever possible. |
