^ That doesn't make it a direct sequel. Not every Zelda game is directly connected to eachother, despite having very similar gameplay(ALttP and LA is a shining example here).

Most Mario games have the same basic story, but that doesn't make them come right after another. Sunshine is considered to come after something besides Super Mario 64 despite being the new version of the 3d game itself.

Paper Mario isn't a "true" sequel to SMRPG, although the working title was SMRPG 2.

As for spiritual successor... well, it depends on your definition of spiritual successor.

I never said I didn't agree with that term. Val seems to be questioning the use of the term, not me.

Not if you wanted something with similar character design, plot progression, and humor/personality. Then it's just something with a similar battle engine and overview.

The NFL 2K series needs to come back once EA's monopoly over the NFLPA license ends. That was beast.

The Ogre Battle franchise, especially since it's implied there was way more stuff that needed to be done.

There are so far, three Shadowrun Games and two of them sucked.

I still want more.

I was curious about the new one. Was it a reboot or an actual sequel?

If we are thinking on the same game that was realeased about 1 or 2 years ago it goes as follows.

I don't know if its a successor to the earlier games due to i have only watched trailers, but what i do know is that the fanbase have nicknamed it shadowruin.

Reboot. Pretty much just 'Team Fortress 2', except slightly more complex and with an offline mode (basically the same as the online one, except with bots). Not a good 'Shadowrun' game, but a pretty good team-based FPS.

(Incidentally, the online community is deader than Dillinger, and there isn't a single-player campaign, so I can't recommend it these days.)

Legend of Dragoon would be a little difficult to continue, there's more room for a prequel.

Well, Nintendo made a big deal out of it being "the next Super Mario RPG", but I think they took it in such a direction that disconnected it from Seven Stars. To me, it's kind of like comparing a bus to a train. Essentially does the same thing, but goes about it in a completely different way whenever possible.
