So I decided to get an emulator for the SNES, which I hadn't experienced before, and got Roms for Super Metroid and Castlevania IV. and it's awesome. It is all so awesome Anything else you people would recommend along the lines of SNES stuff? Becuase it looks like a lovely system with a good catalogue. |

I'm sure I'll think of more fairly soon. The list of good games for the system is exceedingly appealing. I grew up on SNES. Even into the PS1 years, I played it. I've got mine here with me and I've been meaning to play it, I'm just missin mah dang power cord. I would also suggest that if you like it, try and find a cheap system, because I'm sure its better than the emulator. Luckily they're usually pretty easy to find cheap, online at least (though you would then have to buy the games I guess, so maybe not). Edit: Oh yeah, I remember some of the Disney movie games being good too. And also, Batman Forever is a game TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Have fun! ![]() Last edited by Vgfian; 07-18-2010 at 02:23 PM. |

Runner up for the system's crown is probably Final Fight Two (it's actually the same game as One, but with two-player included) or Super Double Dragon. SDD took a few risks and ended up with something both closer to the arcade feel, but still very different from the original. Street Fighter II Turbo is the quintessential SF, and Mortal Kombat 2 is probably the most memorable MK game, but I think Killer Instinct tops it as the best Tourney Fighter on the system. F-Zero is great for an early release, and has a visual and aural style unfelt later in the series. The first two Donkey Kong Country games are essential gaming, but the third is a miss if you're sensitive to reduced art quality. If for any reason you still haven't experienced Mega Man X, the first one is from back when the series still had its soul. There was a bit of that lost with each subsequent release. I'll have to second Secret of Mana - it's easily my favorite RPG. The settings and music were executed in a way that is very distinct, that Square has not successfully recreated since. Playing it multi-player is a must, though. The original Star Fox is another experience totally unto itself - the series really took a different direction with SF64 as the basis and probably the only game in the series really worth playing after it. Check it out, and marvel over how, using just a few basic shapes, the designers still managed to effortlessly create identifiable imagery. If you want the SNES to actually wow you with its visuals, try the cinematic Prince-of-Persia-similar Out of this World. It's one of the few SNES games to employ 2D polygons for smooth animation, and it does it very well. |

I guess it may be because I've almost never played it with someone else, though. Other games I'd recommend would be Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country 2, and EarthBound. There's more, but I can't be bothered to remember them. |

What everyone has suggested is good. There's also this rpg called Live a Live I've read about that sounds like it could be good. It wasn't released in the states, though I think there's a patch for that. suggesting games I have not played yeahyeahyeah alright |

It's probably my favorite SNES game as of now. It's the fun of the past Castlevanias without most of the annoyances. I played Actraiser some time ago and thought it was really fun. The Sim part was pretty fun, if somewhat basic, and the action stages were great. The music is an absolute wonder, really gives the game a kick. I'd second Tales of Phantasia, but after playing the recent PSX translation, I'd say go for that one if you can. It's a beauty to the eyes, the translation team did an excellent job keeping the Tales feel, and the combat is, for some reason, a lot better than Tales of Destiny. Still, for what its worth, the SNES version really was something. |

Lives up to my expectations so far. I'll check out FFVI and Tales of Phantasia next. Also, before now I had only heard of SoM in the context of how much Jay hates it |

Just take it as its own thing - it's actually the sequel to a Zelda clone, released in the west as Final Fantasy Adventure on the Gameboy. I tend to think people try to evaluate it as an RPG, when it's more like an interesting hybrid of Action/Adventure and RPG to me. It was unprecedented, at the time, and has a wholly different art style and music style from other series. |

Also, the combat stages are hard. But that's probably what was fun for me. Learn the enemies, learn the bosses, kick their asses. | |

I love Mortal Kombat II, but it's a love-it-or-hate-it kinda series. And Tetris Attack, is good, too. |
