How do you play online with a SNES Emulator?

Instruction would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to find a SNES emulator with netplay. I think SNES9x has it.

Then... you'd probably need to set up a server or something. I've never tried it before.

What game are you trying to play online?

I have SNES9x as well, and I may join you.

Oh, any, really. Super Street Fighter II, maybe. Or Mega Man's Soccer.

I have neither. But I do have MMPR: The Movie and NBA Jam, and there's always that 2P thing in Mega Man 7.

Anyway, I probably won't today. I've got other things.

I've got ZSNES v1.51.

Dunno how I'll get that to work.

AI and I have done it before with SD3. What we did is set up a private network with a program called Hamachi.

So you can look into that, but AI can probably give you better instructions.

Do you know much about IP addresses or networking in general? You only need a basic understanding.

Here's some simple instructions for ZSNES, which, honestly, is a much more solid than SNES9x:

VG Emulation for Newbies > ZSNES Tutorial

You can obtain your IP address easiest by visiting a site such as this:
What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address

You must have identical copies of the ROM file.

The NAT setup on your router may interfere, among other things, however.

Setting up a connection with a Virtual Private Network is complicated, and I wouldn't recommend it to most, but it's a much more stable way to ensure you have a steady connection. Even playing with ML all the way in the midwestern US, and me in Australia, the VPN had very little packet loss. It may be necessary to setup a VPN if you access the internet through a router with multiple systems connected.
