I just Hooked Up the Atari 2600 I got at 7 Mile Fair.

It seems to be hooked up right, but I'm still only getting Static when I attempt to start playing?

I had to use an adapting that came with ti to hook it up to my TV, it looks almost homemade. It has to setting, TV Antenna and TV VHF, I don't which I should have it too, I've tried both. I don't have an Antenna.

I have my TV on Channel 3, cause that's usually how it's supposed to be.

I've never tried hooking up or playing a system older then the NES before.

Allot of the Games I have with say what Remote should use, but Donkey Kong doesn't.

I assume the standard is the Joysticks. But I do have a set that looks designed for Pong but one of then has lost it's knob. And 2 remote Pads that look almost like primitive NES remotes.

I'm used to player 1 being the right sided one, but one of the Atari games I got says to play with the Left remote.

That should help. Player one is always on the left side, every system I have ever used.

And, um, good luck with that Donkey Kong port. I hear it's tolerable for a system that can't handle more than 2 sprites at a time. You didn't buy Pacman by any chance, did you? Don't try playing it, if you did. It's really not worth getting it to run.

Thanks. I have the traditional Wooden model.

I think I have it hooked up right cause there definitely a single being sent fomr it to my TV, I just haven't gotten any games started yet.

The remote Pads I mentioned do say Sega on them, but their not Genesis remotes obviously. Maybe they where Master System remotes.

I have to copie sof Bezerk.

Okay, yeah, I've heard of Sega controllers working with the 2600.

Have you gotten the bugger running yet? Try cleaning the cartridge connectors, etc? If it's not running and you're not at least getting a blank or jumping screen, try channels 4, 0, and 2 as well, and check in your tv manual for instructions, if you've still got it.

Just for the sake of conversation, the 2600 was actually the second name for the system. It was originally called the Video Computer System, or VCS, and wasn't called the 2600 until the 5200 launched. The rebranded it to have the appearance of a product line with the intention of continuing VCS/2600 sales indefinitely. Technically, the woodgrain model is a VCS and not the 2600 which had black casing.

Not sure about the 2600 version, btw, but Berserk usually requires 2 joysticks in a holder, since it actually makes use of two to play - one to move and one to aim. It's the first "twinstick" shooter game ever made, as far as I know.
