NES-style Game Music Remixes/Covers

Here's a pretty chill version of the Killer Instinct theme. I love it.

Let's try and keep it authentic to the NES or at least Gameboy, please.

Myself and my friends absolutely specialize in this category, provided you like Mega Man music. Here are some examples:

Mega Man X5 - Spiral Pegasus

I was hoping you'd notice this thread, DZ. I think you've done a lot of good stuff, just haven't gotten down to the music forum with the intent of listening as much as I should. What kind of software/process do you generally use?

FamiTracker. It's perhaps the best for NES-style tracks since it actually emulates the Famicom sound chip. Also, it's free, which is good considering I have literally no budget.

My friend down the hall downloaded a whoooole bunch of 8-bit remixes the other day. Maybe I'll have him send me some and I'll relay them here.

Ah, is that another iteration of NerdTracker? Or just similar? I guess I'll have to look into it.

BTW, if you want BEST authentic quality, you could totally get one of these boys, if you know/learn MIDI:

.:wayfar:.

I've got one I ordered quite a while back, mostly just for collection's sake. Works pretty awesome, gotta say.

Actually, on that subject if you pick one of your songs that you'd like to hear most through an actual NES I could probably make that happen, since I'm guessing you probably don't have the 120 bucks or software/hardware to run a midiNES.

I don't want to be picky but isn't there a distinctive lack of Sound chip in the NES, as i remember it's the hardware in it's self that manages all the sound?

I'm no terminology guru, so I don't know what actually qualifies as a soundchip. It just sounded good.

^^It's based on MadTracker, and can even export NSFs.
