What game would you remake, and how?

If I could find the time, I would love to remake Shadowgate. It's very straightforward in its gameplay, and given unlimited resources I would probably remake it in a high-resolution, 2D, hand-painted style. I would prefer it to be fully animated, however, instead of just the 2-frame "animations" that populate the NES version. I would probably also provide alternate angles for rooms to be viewed from, with more close-ups of areas of interest. I would also optimize the menu elements a bit to provide the imagery as large an emphasis as possible.

I could definitely go for putting it into an engaging 3D engine similar to Amnesia, although it wouldn't be my first choice.

I'd update Princess Tomato in roughly the same way as you mentioned. Also, Ufouria.

It'd be pretty cool if Metroid II was given the Zero Mission treatment. Updated graphics and music, expanded world, new bosses, new powerups, etc.

I wouldn't mind a Mario All-Starts package with the games done in the NSMB style.

Killer Instinct. Although I guess I'd rather see a third installment rather than a remake. Just a new game with modern graphics and mechanics, still keeping all the original characters and such.

I think part of the charm of Killer Instinct is definitely in the Pre-rendered art, so it would be tough for an update to really match it. I'd love to see a WiiWare style release of the Arcade version, though, because my emulator for it is pretty junky.

Metroid II is so at the top of my list, Val. I think a lot of amazing stuff could be done for it, if they're just put the Zero Mission team back together. Hell, give the project to Retro.

Mach Rider dammit

Edit: There were the rumors of Mach Rider: Unchained for 3DS, where it would be an open world style game in a post-apocalyptic world a la Mad Max/Fist of the North Star. I would play the crap out of that game.

A Desert Strike remake for the DS could be cool. Maybe add missions in a greater variety of environments, or the option to play as other countries with different types of helicopters.

Eh, give it one or two installments. They have to go somewhere with that franchise.

Call of Duty does take place in WWII. Are you joking? If so, I'm not getting it.

The joke is that all of the Call of Duty games seem pretty much the same.

O I C

I suppose that holds some merit. Personally, I'm holding out for the CoD that finally lets me shoot foreigners with a gun.

Ooh, I would remake Mario Party 1 to replace the mini-game rotations with button presses.

The other day I was thinking about how a remake for the Breath of Fire series would have be so much better if they would only cut down the random encounter rate by three quarters.

Chrono Trigger, from the ground up for PS3/4. I'd keep everything that made it awesome, and replace certain aspects with better ones, or more up-to-date versions.

Examples:

Drinking contest is more engaging (not just mashing A), and gets you drunk. Similar changes to minigames.
No repeated enemies (always disliked it).
Multiplayer co-op, and better monster training for VS.
Add everything that never made the final cut (lots of stuff).
Add some new things (better than the DS did)
Make it tie into Chrono Cross better, and remake that too.
Make room for another game, perhaps an interquel.
Fully voiced, and orchastrated game.
Up the difficulty, add an ending, and create a more customizable character.

I'd love to see something like this happen. It would trump anything ever made. Ever.

Oh, and remake the original Pokemon Red/Blue on the Wii U as "Pokemon Generations" and it would be a much closer to the original game than they did
before with the GBA.
