Everything could move except my character, and no enemies were on screen.

I think it's a game logic issue. I dashed just as text came up, and I think I got into an untested state.

Contrabobo is my favorite level, personally.

It's a great nostalgia game. The Pro Wrestling part felt stupid to play though; maybe it's because I didn't play the NES equivalent, but half the time getting up, I'd immediately be attacked by the opponent and fall down again.

Yeah, I've played that game and liked it, but the level was pretty frustrating.
