No, no they do not. However, many of the games were ported to the GBA, with new features and such. Like four-player, and more. If you get Game Boy Player, you'll be able to play the remakes. Other than that, you can wait for the Revolution to download those classic games.(as roms are illegal)

While most of the world doesn't care if roms are illegal, it's actually quite hard to get an intact SMB1 rom. I can tell you, however, that yes the GBA and GBA Player attachment for gamecube can play a re-released Super Mario Bros., as well as the Super Mario Advance versions of the Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 as well as the two Worlds games. Sound good?

It's disputable. I'd just be satisfied in myself that roms for systems like SNES and NES are commonly traded, and accept the fact that they will never be any more illegal to posess than taped episodes of Seinfeld.

It's not as bad as dowloading copyrighted music, for sure. NES and SNES games aren't in production anymore, whereas people typically download new songs as they are released. Granted, it's still illegal as NES/SNES games are far from being in the public domain, but at least they aren't on store shelves anymore.
