Post whatever retro games you got recently, feel free to include what you downloaded for the VC or other systems(if it's retro - if it's just a 2D game, that doesn't count as retro). Summarize the game or even write a review, if you like. It's been a little while since I bought these, but I never posted about them. I recently grabbed: Gargoyle's Quest for the Gameboy, in box with manual, great condition Maniac Mansion for the NES, in box, great condition I haven't played Maniac Mansion yet, because it is a PAL game and requires a PAL system. I haven't borrowed HotD's system, and my NES won't work with my Game Genie to play "imported" games. I'll probably just get around to clipping that one pin on the lockout chip eventually, but I haven't bothered yet. Partly, I'm worried about messing up my only functioning NES (particuarily my NTSC/American system). I have played some of Gargoyle's Quest, and it is pretty sweet. Classic Capcom action here, but it's rather tough. I think a game-saving, add-on peripheral would be a good idea for this one, or just playing the ROM, because save states would be a welcome function. Still, I haven't put a lot of time into it and I imagine I will get better. It's got a decent password system on it, and while it's not a save function, it certainly trumps savestates in the book of authenticity. I for one still don't mind writing down passwords when I play a game, so it's about as close to a save state as I need. Of course, nothing beats being able to boot it up on the old grey brick/Gameboy - or at least with a Nintendo controller in hand and a television in front of me. |

Nothing I haven't played before, but it's not the most common of games, and I'm really psyched I could find it - especially since I'm in Australia. Also saw a copy of Plok there, which I really wanted. I told HotD she'd like it, though, so I'll let her grab it first, if she wants. |

It's kinda like a card battling game with a dark/broody Castlevania style setting!!! Though I don't usually like those games, still, I must say It's actually fun. Also imported Panorama Cotten for MegaDrive ( which I'm extremely lucky because only 5,000 copies are rumoured to be in circulation, so I'm told). Magician Lord for NeoGeo AES, Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaio: prize edition for DreamCast ( again, extremely lucky with this one too, I've heard only five "yes five" copies exist). Don't ask the price I payed for it!!! Unfortunately I haven't got round to playing the rest, yet. Mostly because I'm way too busy working and when I finish work I'm totally ****ed. |
