| Guest | Final Fantasy Legend is here to remind us that even a highly respected and overrated company like Squaresoft (Now Square-Enix) can make a terrible horrible no good very bad RPG that will make you think that trolling around online forums would be a better way to spend your time. Everything will make you want to smash the game instantly, from the repetitive graphics to the ear-splitting music to the plotline that's as interesting as The Grapes of Wrath , you'll seriously stop playing before you even reach the half way mark. The graphics are early Gameboy, I'll give you that, but are those really mutants or people with Blonde hair? And how come that monster I fight is the exact same as the one I just fought but with a different name? And how come there's only one where the game says there's 6? I'll admit-That was a drawback in Final Fantasy Legend 2 also, but I'm not talking about that. Also, the weapons are simply the most uncreative things I've ever seen on the Gameboy-Instead of seeing the weapon strike, you see just lines and dots appear on the enemies. Even for an early gameboy game, that's just pathetic. But one thing you'll have to admit is that the bosses like Ashura and the Creator look pretty cool. The sound, though being an early gameboy game, is simply too terrible to be gameboy sounds. I mean-The weapon sounds show literally no originality-They all make the same noise, I mean, since when does a hammer make a slashing noise? Since when does FIRE make a slashing noise? I mean-Shouldn't there at least be some originality in the sounds? The background music is also awfully repetitive, but the boss music as well as the Final Battle music are very well put together-But not good enough to waste minutes that are better off playing something good on. The controls are awfully slow-Not only does your character take about a few seconds to start moving (Do they have a hernia from moving their legs even when they're not walking or something?), but when you're fighting a battle, it goes so slow you'll want to throw the game down the garbage disposal with the destroyed remains of Phantasy Star III and Batman Rise of Shin Tzu. The real challenge in Final Fantasy Legend is playing it. The worst part of the game is that god-awful leveling up system. It was terrible enough to make Final Fantasy 2j the worst Final Fantasy, but here, it simply takes the problem and magnifies it by KirbyKing's post count. You seriously will want to shoot yourself. The biggest problem is is that you'll most likely wan to have 2 humans and 2 mutants-The problem is is that mutants grow really quickly-That's a good thing but the humans stats are the biggest glitch-It's next to impossible to make their stats go up, their health stays around 40 throughout the whole entire game. That might have just been my cartridge though. The biggest challenge besides the god-awful leveling up system is the fact that it throws monsters you need to have next-to-max-stats to even stand a chance at after you beat the first world. And then they become so strong that they're practically immortal by the end of the adventure where you fight around 10-20 of them at the same time and they all kill a party member in just one round. This was a drawback in Final Fantasy Legend 2, but they made the monsters beatable there. Overall, while some people may think some Square-Enix games (Mainly Xenogears) is god-awful, but compared to this game, it's Phantasy Star IV. I don't know how they could have made this game this bad, it's like Satan reincarnated into a plastic Cartridge. If you EVER see this game for sale anywhere, ignore it and look for games that are worth your time. Truly put, this is the worst RPG I can think of. Do NOT ever play this game-It makes Mario Party 5 look like Chrono Trigger. 0.01/10 Pros: There are pros? Cons: -=Boring Pallete swaps that are overused=- -=Repetitive music=- -=Immortal monsters=- -=God-awful leveling up system=- -=Humans stats never go up=- -=Slashing Hammers, Slashing Guns, and Slashing Spells=- -=As slow as a mac with AOhell=- [ March 07, 2004, 04:01 AM: Message edited by: Jet ] |
