(Sorry for not reviewing anything last week, been bogged down with homework)

Remember the horror movie Friday the 13th? Probably one of the scariest movies of all time, and it spawned a big series of sequels to it that were basically Jason Vorhees going on a mad rampage, killing everyone, and blablabla. Eventually, they had to make a game on a system of that Era to go with the movie right? Yes, and this is how Friday the 13th for the NES was born, and when the nightmares and headaches began.

The graphics of Friday the 13th are pretty good-I like the way the counsolers's status portraits (Which tell you which one you are playing as) look, and I also like the backgrounds and the map of Camp Crystal Lake. When you're fighting Jason inside a cabin, he looks pretty decent, but outside the cabin, everyone is pretty much faceless pallete swaps.

The sound is some of the most annoying I've ever heard on the NES. Period. This might have been my game or the TV, but right as I turned it on, the music was quiet so I turned up the volume and then it blasts the title screen music at like 3,000 decibles. AAAAGGGHHH!!! If you weren't deafened by the title screen music, you'll notice is that everything is repetitive. Sure, when you're fighting Jason, that music is a bit catchy but that's pretty much the only thing in the game worth listening too.

The side scrolling parts of the game are pretty well done, but when you're inside a cabin, you'll think you're in hell and there's Satan-Oops I mean Martha Stewart, Oops, that's Jason trying to kill you again. You have to fight Jason in those annoying 3D modes. I like the way the backgrounds look, but there's almost no way to enjoy the backgrounds when you're trying to fight the hideously hard Jason. It is very hard to control your character in that mode and like 60% of the game is in that mode. I'd like to meet the person who was behind the control in that mode and give him a kick in the stomach while wearing Cleats.

The game is pretty hard, but I'm sure someone like Joker could beat it. You start off with an endless supply of Rocks which have the strength of a piece of chewed bubble gum or the camper's crunched up homework from the school year to fight with. If you're lucky, you can find something like a knife, Machette, Torch, or a pitchfork or whatever to deal a bit more damage to Jason, but you have to go to the other side of camp just to save the children-And by the time you probably get there trying to survive, they're probably dead and then you get to fight Jason. He'll just punch you in the head until you die of a concussion(sp). If you manage to beat him, then he'll have a knife that's like 3 feet long and will kill you. Then if you somehow manage to beat him, you find him again and he has a Chainsaw and kills you again. Unless you like to die, then you'll like this game but if you don't like to be psycologically damaged, then avoid this game and don't even play the RoM unless it's to rip the sprites out.

Sure, you can fight Jason's mother to get something like the Pitchfork or Axe, but that's pretty much all the replay value you'll ever find in this game.

Overall, avoid this game at all costs. Unless they made the game impossible on purpose and made the object guide the counselors to their demises of course. 2.30/10

Pros:
-=Great Graphics=-
-=Good concept for 3D=-
-=Semi-Catchy Cabin fighting theme=-

Cons:
-=Difficulty=-
-=Cabin controls=-
-=Impossible enemies=-
-=The Immortal Jason=-
-=10 second music loops that weren't properly done at all=-

^^Oh, I'm still here. Just haven't been reviewing anything. I haven't bought any games in a while, and can't find any films worth reviewing. Actually, I've been thinking about doing a review of The Hulk, but I want to get my scanner fixed first. If I do it, I'll definetly need screencaps.

Anyway, the movies sucked, and the game probably did as well.

-A Genius (I'm going to be watching a lot of movies this weekend, and probably buying a couple of video games, so maybe I'll be back. I'm not going to stop writing reviews yet, that's for dure.)
