Th E-Reader in general.

I got one for my birthday for a while ago. I was less than excited. Oh the E-Reader is perfectly cool, but the NES game that I got with it (mine was Pinball-E) didn't work. Card Number 1 had a blank side with no barcodes, meaning that I couldn't play it. I had to compensate by buying different games, but the fact that I got one that didn't work is annoying.

Onto the review then. While Pinball-E didn't work, the E-Reader fortunetly comes with additional cards to get you started. Manhole is an old Gmae+Watch game that I alreadedy had in the first Game+Watch Gallery. It also had some Pokemon cards and an Animal Crossing Card. Moderately fun.

Anywho, I'm going to divide my review into sections, one for each E-card series/rereleased NES game. I'l add more as more are released and as I buy more. Now then...

The Pokemon E-Card series: This one is going to be worshipped by Pokemon fans. It's a Pokemon Card, Pokedex Data Thingee, and Minigame/Cartoon/Useless Music Thingee all in one! Well, the last one isn't always there, and the hollgraphic ones don't have dot-codes at all, and the "Cartoons" are stupid, and the Minigames tend to be boring. Animal Crossing Series: This is, logically enough, for Animal Crossing owners. Using it, you can get an AC code, with which you can give to Nook, who'll give you something in return. Or you can scan the card at an ETM machine in the game, which'll give you an item! And sence items are like food in this game, I give it an...

Now, we're at the NES games. Due to the "Pinball" incident, I don't have many. But the ones I have are pretty good. I wzs lucky enough to end up with the 2 that are being called the real charms in the pack. Anyway...

Excitebike: Pffft. Everybody knows this game is good. Game A pits you against the clock, and gets boring after a while. Game B pits you against Computer Opponents who seem to have the ability to magically warp ahead of you. Luckily, you're not racing them, you're racing the clock, as usual. It's fun to make the Computer Opponents crash, but after a while, it does get old. The third and final mode is what really makes this game excel. Design lets you create your own course with as many jumps and obstacles as you want. Then you can race on it. Loads of fun.

Balloon Fight: Ever play Joust? Balloon Fight is a clone of Joust. Joust is a fun game, and therefore, Balloon Fight is a fun game. Pop balloons. Jump on birds that use balloons to fly. Avoid letting birds pop your balloons. Simple. There's also an impossible bonus challenge called Balloon Trip, where you fly through a realm of limit sparks and die. A lot. Balloon Fight is a good game, but slightly "loosish" controls bring it a step down from Excitebike in my opinion.

EDIT: I got series 2 NES rereleases today. Let's review!

Ice Climber: Everybody was probably clamouring to get this one after SSBM. Crazy huh? Ice Climber is a romp up a series of mountains. Good luck getting past all the mountains, this game is fricking hard. Like Balloon Fight, Ice Climber sports loosish control. The game itself is also less enjoyable than Balloon Fight, but the game does have it's moments. Good luck beating it.

Mario Bros.: Flip over enemies, touch them to kill them. Typical. It's pretty fun, but for crying out loud, this is the 4th time it's been rereleased for the GBA! Why Nintendo? Why? Buy Yoshi's Island Advance. It has the best side-scroller of all time as well as Mario Bros. in it, and that Mario Bros. has more features.

Donkey Kong: The original, only without all the levels. While that's a problem, the factory level was pretty dumb anyway. So you go through the other classic levels, Avoiding barrels and such, recue Pauline, then you do it again. Fun for a quick play.

I got an E-Reader for Christmas, and here are my reviews for three of the games I play.

Pokemon mini-games: I only have two sets of cards four these; the cards I got with my E-Reader, and the Rapidash and Ho-Oh cards I got in my issue of Nintendo Power. In my opinion, these games are very addictive. These are probably teh only cards I'll have, though. Don't really care for the Pokemon TCG anymore.
My score: 7/10

Donkey Kong Jr.: I got this as a pack-in as well. I want to keep this review as short as possible, so I'll keep this simple. I think it's addictive, and a worthy addition to any E-Reader owner's collection, but I also find it to be frustrating.
My score: 8/10

Ice Climber: I wanted this game the most, mostly for the fact that I was curious. Like all the other games, I find this game highly addicting. The only problem I have with this game is the questionable jump physics. It will take a while to addapt to this game, but once you do, you might find it to be as great I say it is.
My Score: 9/10

Speaking of DK jr., I got it. How happy.

DK Jr.: Well, unlike DK, this game lost none of it's levels from the arcade. Unforunetly, the levels aren't as great. The only level that's as fun is the last one. But hey, it's a longer game, and that helps it a lot. If you don't get it with the E-Reader itself, then pick it up. It's only $5.00.

E-Reader Average: 7.1

-A Genius (Frankly, I think the E-Reader deserves a higher score, but it's averaged.)

EDIT: And now I got Mario Party-E.

Mario Party-E: This time around, Mario Party is a bit more similar to the Pokemon TCG, only without the collecting. There re 64 cards, and 11 of them are minigames. And they're not that great. There are only 3 truly fun ones in there (Waluigi's Reign, Time Bomb Tricks, and Bolt From Boo), and 2 of the games are identical. The minigames take sprites from the Super Mario Advance Titles, which is cool. And the actual card game is pretty fun, though you won't get much chance to play the few fun minigames, music is average. Overall, it's different, which is good, but it's not enough.
