Plot: After an introduction 'level' of sorts, our heroine Samus winds up on the planet Tallon IV, home to the extremely intelligent but extinct Chozo race. We encounter old enemies like the wall-crawling zoomers and kamikaze shriekbats and new enemies such as plated beetles and the mysterious chozo ghosts. Samus must find and collect twelve chozo artifacts. (As you can see, the word 'chozo' is used a lot in this game.) Gameplay: Some call it a First-Person Shooter, others, call it an adventure. For the sake of argument, I'll call it an FPS because you see from Samus' point of view, and ya got a gun. This is one of the best FPS's I've ever played. Seeing though Samus's helmet adds a lot to the gameplay, since you get to see from a whole new perspective. There are downsides to this, though, because sometimes it can be hard to tell if you are going to make it across a huge gap because you can't look down with- out holding R (to aim & look down), or else you'll most likely screw up the jump and fall. Pros: *Lock-on feature-lock on to enemies by holding L. *Several of the old abilities, like morph ball & missiles. *I won't actually say it, but try beating the game with 100% or beating it in a very short time. *AWESOME music track. Cons: *Sometimes hard to jump (see last bit of gameplay section^^^) *Can be hard to change visors or guns; you have to use the D-Pad and C-stick, this can mess you up sometimes in combat. *A few cloaked enemies. Damn. *Some of the bosses are hard as s#it. Double damn. OVERALL: One word describes this game. Whoop-a$$. Several visors (combat, scan, X-ray, and thermal) and weapons (power, wave, ice, and plasma beams) and the variation of enemies, items, & bosses make this game a must-play for all hardcore metroid fans. THIS GAME IS FOR YOU IF: ~You love the metroid series ~you love first-person shooters ~you like to blow up and cause mass destruction to various items and creatures. ~you think you can handle a good challenge. ~you think you can take on a space pirate who's friggen kneecap is higher off the ground than you. THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU IF: ~ you don't like to hear bloody-murder screams once your energy hits zero (one of my favorite features.) ~you like the sidescrollers better. (Go play Metroid Fusion.) ~you're a sexist b!tch who doesn't want to play a game starring a female. ~You don't like getting shot at. A lot. Plot- 7.5/10. I personally would like to see Zebes & Brinstar in full 3D as opposed to Tallon IV. Graphics- 9/10. Amazing! Gameplay- 9.5/10. I HONESTLY played for days straight, only stopping for food/drink, bathroom breaks, and sleep. the rest was MP. (When at another place or in the car, it was Fusion instead. Maybe that's why I've already beaten MF & I'm at prime's boss.....) Overall- 9.9/10 |
