Fear not, I will provide my opinion when the review is over. The next paragraph will be Becky's. "even if the camera is bad, in action stages, its still fun. the story is good. sonic's stages are fun, especially his first stage, because well, it's fun but when the gun truck tries to chase you, i get hurt. just one time. in prison lane, i almost shoot the whole thing. i like when in mad space, that it's like i am gliding upwards. the chao garden has a bit too many chao when it's the mating season, but otherwise, it's fun." .....Okay..... Anywho, the game is moderately fun. Yes, the camera is terrible. My big gripe is that when you're in Sonic/Shadow/Tails/Eggman/Robotnik stages, if you try to switch the camera and walk in the "other direction" to explore, the camera the camera remains in place until you move, then it swings around idioticly. So, you're going through 2 modes, Hero and Dark. It's probably best to play them in that order, since you'll get the most surprises out of the story. The story is quite good. I won't get too much into it, but Sonic is framed by Shadow, who looks like him, only eviler (that seems to be the case with a lot of characters these days, look at Super Mario Sunshine!). But Dark mode is the better of the too. The stages are just more fun. They're harder, but they're more fun. Anywho, Sonic and Shadow both have speedy romps through levels. If you like classic Sonic action, then this should appeal to you. You probably have a good idea of what these are like. Eggman and Tails (both in a mech, I can't figure out why Tails is in one, though.) have shooting stages. In them, you must run around, and more importantly, BLOW STUFF UP!!! Ah, but here's the thing. You use a lock on system, which works like this: You shoot a "laser," anything remotely near the "laser" will gain a little cursor on it, all enemies that have cursors on them will get blown up, the more enemies you blow up with one laser, the more points you get. Simple, right? Yes actually, it is. But it's very fun, and that's what's important! My big problem with these stages is that Tails shouldn't be in that mech. Knuckles and Rouge have Treasure hunting stages. You have to hunt down 3 randomly positioned objects. You have clues, and a radar to help you, and these stages suck. Let's leave it at that (Although Rouge's stages are more fun than Knuckle's stages though). Actually, the big fun thing about SA2:B is the Chao Garden. You raise cute little critters called Chao, and then you have them race eachother and beat eachother up! Sound like Pokemon? It should, but since the Chao are so much cuter than Pokemon (they're also more active, you can teach them tricks), they're more fun. And the GBA connection rocks. You transport Chao to your GBA, where you can raise them with special items, and get rings with special minigames. It's best to have a copy of Sonic Advance though. Then you can save your Chao! Al hail the Chao! There's also multiplayer, which is another big charm in the game. Racing through the stages as Sonic and Shadow is the main attraction, but blating your friend as Tails and Eggman is also fun. As always, Knuckles and Rouge have boring levels, but you can play as Chaos Zero! Now THAT'S cool! The chao also feature multiplayer bonuses, racing and karate, respectively. Since the gmes are so simple, you can hook up a GBA, and have send your Chao to Gamecube for the games. You don't have to download your Chao or anything! Just hook up, and you're ready to go! SA2:B is would've been an average game, were it not for the Chao. Because, let's face it. Chao rule! This game easily could've gotten away with having nothing but Chao! All hail the Chao! 7.9/10 -A Genius (7.9 rounds to an 8. Oh, and Becky? Yeah, she's insane.) |
