We all know Banjo Kazooie. A boring, shallow platform in which you control a bear that wears a backback that has a bird in it. It's like every other 3-D platformer (save a few), meaning a romp through linear stages where you collect some super item which tends to be colored gold. There are minigames, and most of them suck. So let's dwell into yet another game like that.

The plotline is simple. Gruntilda, after being trapped under a boulder in Banjo Kazooie, is rescued by her sisters, Mingelda and Blobelda. Gruntilda has decomposed into a skeleton, and procedes to blow up Banjo's house and kill his freind Bottles before going off to find a way to fix her minor decomposition problems. Banjo meanwhile, goes off to get his revenge.

That's it. There's no Game-Over sequence this time around, which is a shame, considering how great the one in the original was. Graphics are quite good. Everything looks as realistic as can be expected from the N64. However, the game suffers from major framerate problems. TERRIBLE framerate problems. It's painful to watch.

Sound is a strong point. The music is quite memorable, particularily good is the Hailfire Peaks music. Other tunes also stand out. Nothing bad here. And the sounds are fine.

Control is pretty simple. Once again, no problems here, so I'll leave it at that.

Gameplay sucks. You've already read the first paragraph, so you can tell that the game is boring. It's never hard to find out what to do. It's basic stuff. And the minigames are boring, if not, frusterating. The final level is stupid and boring. It's just a simple puzzle, followed by a boss, a quiz, and then another boss. The final boss isn't easy, but the final level is PATHETIC.

There's a first person mode, which sounds good in theory, until you realize how troublesome first person is. There are a few bosses fought in first person, and that's the only time it's not frusterating. There are less enemies than in most first person games, which basically means that this segment of the game is boring. And while most games like this are frusterating with lots of enemies, I'm not exagerating when I say how boring it is. I almost prefer frusteration.

There is a multiplayer mode, but it gets boring after a while. There's a first person shoot-out, and the the others are just extended versions of the various minigames. Boring.

So overall, the game is exactly the same as most of the other games at the time. Don't bother.

Graphics: 6/10
Sound: 9/10
Control: 9/10
Gameplay: 3/10
Replay Value: 6/10
Overall: 6/10

I quite liked this game... until I deleted the file when I'd almost beaten it. You get that!
