After the SNES, everything on console systems sucked until Dreamcast came out. Particularily worthy of notification due to smellyness is the Nintendo 64. In my opinion, it beats Virtual Boy for the category of Worst System Ever. And here's why: 3D perspective sucks. That the simple logic. 3D platformers can't be as good as 2D ones, same with RPGs and shooters (with notable exceptions, although the only ones on the N64 are Rocket and Paper Mario). Even the 2D games on the N64 sucks. Dr. Mario 64 is no exception, although it comes close. The thing that kept Playstation ahead of the N64 was mainly overhyped Final Fantasy games. And Megaman.

Take tetris. It's probably been on more systems than Mario. Dr. Mario is like Tetris, and, like Tetris, it's the same thing every time. DM64 does, however, boast a pumped up story mode, the likes of which aren't seen to often in puzzlers, since, lets face it, puzzle games don't clammor for cool storylines as much as most modern RPGs. Anyway, DM64's plot isn't too great anyway, but you can play as the coolest Mario character ever, Wario. The game is covered with all sorts of Waio Land 3 enemies, the most noticable is the Clown, who now has a name. And that name is...

...
... wait for it...
...
...
... it's coming...
...
...
... it's almost here...

... Rudy!

So it's now safe to assume that the storyline is terrible. Good thing I don't rate stories.

Gameplay! Throw pills, line them up in a pattern to destroy viruses. I'm not sure if that's the correct plural term for "virusses," but let's just move on. It's exactly the same as always, and as far as multiplayer goes, well, the only person I can play with is my sister, who is, in all respects, a sore loser. So I can't really tell you how multiplayer is, since I've never had a very good experience with multiplayer games.

Graphicwise, al I can say is "eh..." I don't mind it being 2D, but it's not like Yoshi Story, which is 2D done WELL (still an awful game, though), the backgrounds are okay, but nothing special. But let's get real here, another thing puzzle games are known for is having basic graphics.

Yet abother important thing puzzle games are noted for is the music. It's good, as always, we do get pretty cool tunes here and there. And the sounds are cool, Rudy, while having a stupid name, does have an evil sounding voice. The others are also cool, I guess.

As far as replay value goes, it's pretty good. It's addictive, for a while. Of course, considering that this is a rehash of a conept that's been seen thousands of times before, it's limited.

Frankly, the N64 is my least favorite system. As far as DM64 goes, I recommend you stick with handhelds when it comes to puzzle games. DM64 just isn't original.

Graphics: 7/10
Sound/Music: 8/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Replay Value: 6/10
Overall: 6.5/10
