| Guest Posts: n/a | Septerra Core, most people today don't know what Septerra Core is, nor will anyone remember it like Ape Escape. Personally, I think this game may be the most overlooked game on the PC, it might even be more overlooked than Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders. The graphics are 3D, like almost all PC games are now. The graphics are pretty swell, even though that they are outdated, they still are swell. The Backgrounds looked very realistic, heck, even the enemies look realistic, even the Robot Connor (Secondary villian, as good as Biggs and Wedge were in FF8) looks like a real robot, and the backgrounds in the mold forest (They looked like something you'd find inhabiting the bottom of the sea or something) were realistic. Sure seeing the same pattern over and over again gets pretty annoying. The game's music's one of the drawbacks. Unlike most RPGs where it has battle and boss music, the music in this game is pretty much recycled, there are like 2 battle themes that vary and those same battle themes are what you hear for bosses. There is little background music otherwise, but they do have realistic sound effects and voiceovers, that pretty much does cover up for the little background music. The Control is one of the best parts of the game. Okay, so you'll probably have to tape your shift key in place because walking is so slow. And instead of just 1 ATB bar that fills up for a character to move, the ATB bar is split up into 3 sections and if section 1, 2, or 3 is filled up, you can perform either a level 1, 2, or 3 attack. With some characters like Runner and Badu, it fells up very slowly but they are powerful, and with some characters like Grubb or Led, it fills up very quickly but they are weak. The game has a few secrets, and it's worth replaying after you beat it, 'Nuff said. Also, you'll probably be hooked by the time you hear the Storyline, because it is very interesting and Original (Like all RPGs but get somewhat boring after a few in the series) Overall, Septerra Core is indeed one of the most neglected and best games you can purchase. My friend got it for the unbeatable price of 9 dollars. It comes in a bundle with other games as good as this. The bad thing is that you will most likely find this game in the Bargain Bin, along with other outdated and/or crappy games (Such as the PC version of Megaman Legends which sucked horribly or The Streets of Sim City which was one of Maxis's best creations period) that hardly anyone will buy anymore. I highly reccomend this game to anyone, because it such a good game for such a low price. Also, you can check eBay for it. 9/10 |
