| Guest Posts: n/a | Damn, it's Wensday. I meant to post this around sunday. Freedom Force was also the name of a great NES Zapper, I played it a few times and liked it, but I liked Duck Hunt alot better. While we're off topic, I'm gonna explain that Freedom Force is a Superhero game. Now you are probably saying "Dear lord-Another one?" But this is a different Superhero game featuring unfamilliar superheroes (Minuteman, Man-bot, Mentor, Sea Urchin, Man'O'War, Liberty Lad, and Law and Order) that probably existed in comic books around the Cold War era. (I don't know if that was true or not since My dad didn't believe in Comic books) And this one is different from the stress-and-pain-inducing and pathetic excuse for a game that Superman 64 was. (Do not play that at home) The graphics make it look alot like a 60's comic book. They use alot of light colors and they also give it an RTS look. Oh wait-it IS an RTS. I really like the way the heroes of Freedom Force are done, especially the manly men in tiiiiggghhttsss!! (Why they wear those is way beyond me) And the Status amd talking portraits are pretty well done too...Though I can't help but wonder why Minuteman's mouth keeps moving after he's done talking. The music is pretty quiet and in the last battle, there is almost no music at all. But then again, we have alot of weird sound effects to cover it up and voiceovers. Though hearing some enemies (Like those damn Ice warriors and Ice Queens) yell "Feel the frosty chill of your doom!" or "For Comrade Vinter!" over and over again gets pretty annoying. And one other thing I need to mention about Deja Vu's voice-AAAAGGGHHH!!! WHY DO YOU HAVE HIM DO SO MANY LINES?! His voice sounds like the sounds you'd hear from a drunken cat with laryngitus being beaten with a hot Iron or Celiene Dion's voice! God why did you do that?! Though Timemaster's voice is pretty cool... The gameplay is alot like an RTS, only your characters can fly and you can only use 4 per mission. You can go around terrorizing innocent citizens of Patriot City (Though you will lose prestige for doing so, keep that in mind) and it's all fun to knock them out. Some missions are easy, like Find O'Connor and knock him into Oblivion and some are pretty hard, Like Withstand Deja Vu's voice for about half an hour and save the Freedom Force Base from gigantic robots that are stronger than God Beasts in Seiken Dentsu 3 who can destroy a building in less than 2.5 seconds. Or protect Nick Craft, who has absolutley no defense and just a simple flick causes FF6 style Ultima damage. It can be quite annoying really. Like a certain Sims, you can download skins for your custom characters from da internet and you can customize them in just about any way possible-You can make them as weak as a piece of Kleenex or so strong that they are impossible to purchase. Overall, this game (With the help of Spiderman) proved that Superhero games can indeed be good. You can only find this game in the Bargain bin for around 10 dollars (I only paid a measly 8 for mine and it was in a box), and it's such a good game for such a low price-So what are you waiting for? GET IT!! 9.56/10 Awards: -Golden Game -Great Graphics [ September 24, 2003, 08:31 PM: Message edited by: Douglas Salgoud ] |

| Guest Posts: n/a | I saw a copy of this game in Wal-Mart the other day. Why I didn't get it, I still don't know. IMO, the Zapper Freedom Force pounds Duck Hunt into the ground with a one-ton sledgehammer. |
