| Guest Posts: n/a | Okay, the first one died but let's redo this and do it right so we don't get confused. And hopefully, Andross will archive this if it is good enough. Rules: 1) You may contribute as much "Great games" as you like but you may only do 1-2 every post. I do realize that we had some confusion over this in the past. 2) Pure crap like Spongebob Squarepants does not belong. 3) You may post games that no one has heard of but you must post which system. 4) If someone doesn't like a game (Like say Kingdom Hearts or Phantasy Star, which have alot of mixed opinions) do not flame them if they add it to the list. This does count if someone says "I quite liked Metroid fusion a lot" and if you are one of the people who didn't like it, do not say "Metroid Fusion sucked. My thumbs went numb from that." 5) Just so you know, Xenogears CAN be added even though quite a bit of it didn't like it. 6) Don't post ridiculously dumb reasons for contributing something like "Final Fantasy 7 deserves to be on because it is squaresoft. That is all." or "THIS GAME RULES!! TAKE MY WORD!!! note: This game really does rule." or it will be ignored. You must state actual REASONS like "Legend of Dragoon is a great game. It has got a very nice storyline, very nice backgrounds and enemies, though some stuff needs to be worked on, like how hard it is to get the combos if you don't know what you are doing or if you are new." 7) I know that some games that have been on multiple systems are pretty great. *Cough* Simpsons Road Rage*Cough* Though if they are on multiple systems, then just say which systems it was on (Like say Prince of Persia. You can only use it once because it was released on about every system out there. Using the multiple system ports of it multiple times is cheating) 8) Do not add Final Ecstasy Legend or Ecstasy Star III. Those games are pure crap. Even though every cell in my body is screaming at me not to do it, Shining Force may be added if you actually liked it. Just state reasons why anyone should play it, do not say stuff like "I said so." or "teh storyline is teh bomb!!1 I lovd teh way tey dont even tell you y darksol was trying to revive Dark Dragon!" 9) Be smiley about it. Don't flame anyone of they added a game you happened to hate. (I know I already said that, but I'll say it again to make it more clear) 10) Remakes can be listed as their own game. Sometimes, the remake slaughters the graphics of the original game and makes it almost impossible to want to play it. Some remakes do do that. *Cough*Phantasy Star Collection!*Cough* 11) have fun! Well, let's get on. Game: Septerra Core System: PC Why it's great: Sure the FMVs could be a bit higher quality and the dungeons can't be so linear and almost boring, and the battle music couldn't be recycled, but I actually quite liked Septerra Core. It was a great game, long, and had a unique battle system that kept me occupied for hours, as well as authentic voice-overs and some of the occasional ha-has. (Especially when Mayor's workbots go on strike. )Rating: 8.45/10 Game: Tactics Ogre the Knight of Lodis System: GBA Why it is great: Tactics Ogre for the playstation was such a great game, allthough being nearly impossible to find. The way you can have 4(?) possible endings and 2 different events that lead up to Chapter 3. It does have some drawbacks, such as how your characters take turns which gets rid of some of the thinking ahead that Final Fantasy Tactics threw at ya, though you do have 8 party members (Not including guests) compared to FFT's 5 (or 6 if you have a guest), the way it slaughters some of the kick-ass classes in TO (Some of them still kick ass here, but they are weaklings compared to TO), the way alot of abilities have something wrong, Cybil (She's a manipulative B***h who dresses up like a hooker. ), Nichart, and you can't rotate the camera. Overall, Tactics Ogre the Knight of Lodis isn't perfect, but it still is a must-buy for all of you RPGamers of GBA. Amd Rictor is the coolest RPG character until Riku showed up. Score: 9.56/10 |

Why it is great: If you have not heard of Tetris, you must have been living under a rock. Tetris is almost the classic puzzle video game. It is elegant in its simplicity; one of those mintue to learn, lifetime to master games. It's refreshingly addictive, and plays well in multiplayer mode. This gem has stood the test of time and even passed through the Iron Curtain simply because it is such a great game. Regardless, it does has its drawbacks. No story. No characterization. But, if you're into that sort of thing, you shouldn't be looking into puzzle-type games anyways. Rating: 9.7/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Super Smash Brothers melee System: Gamecube Why its great: It has 25 of nintendo's greatest characters, place them together in an insanely fun, chaotic, yet pretty in depth fighting game, and you've got the single greatest multiplayer game of all time (at least imo) Rating: 9.5/10 Final Fantasy Tactics System: playstation Why its great: It has an excellent, if badly translated, storyline. It's got fun gameplay, customizable characters, plenty of replay, it can challenge the casual gamer and the hardcore gamer. (plenty of challenges created for people to try) Rating: 9.5/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Final Fantasy legend 2 System: Gameboy Why it is great: The first FFL was pure crap. It was a pathetic excuse for an RPG with terrible graphics, terrible music, and nearly impossible monsters. Final Fantasy Legend II fixes almost every flaw there, except for that stupid leveling up system, the sometimes confusing monsters (You fight up too 9 or 10 of the same kind of monster but you don't know how many you defeated because they share one sprite) and some insanley difficult boss battles (Odin is a pain in the @$$ simply because you have a time limit). FFL2 is a very great game if you have the patience to overcome the annoying parts and the lack of character development. (RPGs where you pick your own party don't really have much character development) Rating: 9.01/10 Magi Nation System: Gameboy Colour Why it is great: Some games based on card games aren't all that great. (Pokemon the Trading card game was just plain boring and Forbidden Memories was good but a pain in the @$$ while dueling some people) Magi Nation introduces the RPG elements of Pokemon the Trading card game but it also puts storyline into it. In Magi Nation, you aren't playing the card game, instead, you follow the adventures of Foney Bones-Oops I mean Tony Jones on his misadventures to get home. Capturing monsters can be a pain sometimes, like in pokemon, but the one reason this game aint perfect is that it is a little on the short side (only 6 dungeons and 7 bosses.) and it is pretty hard, especially while fighting Zet. Magi Nation may be a very hard game, but the humor (Especially what happens when Korg and Zet attempt to pull off one of Korg's "Brilliant" schemes) definatly covers up for the difficulty-Though it may be indeed annoying.Rating: 9.65/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Aladdin Why it belongs: Most games that are based on movies or are Disney games just don't even live up to Mediocre game standards. Aladdin is different. This game is actually one of the greater 2D platformers (Among Castlevania and SMB3). Sure the game may be pretty short and becomes as mediocre as every other disney game at the last boss, but collecting every gem truly is fun. Defining Moment: I am Aladdin! Guard, you are in my way to saving Jasmine from Jafar! I shall stun you with my...Apple! Score: 8.58/10 [ November 06, 2003, 07:41 PM: Message edited by: A18 ] |

| Guest Posts: n/a | ^Never played it. Also, you must state Actual REASONS as Douglas said, so *Ignores the above post* Blaster Master Why it belongs: Sunsoft threw out another masterpiece with the most unusual storyline ever. Also, blasting enemies to pieces in a storm-trooper-like outfit really kicks ass. Defining Moment: My frog!! NO!! DON'T TOUCH THAT WASTE!! I DON'T WANNA HAVE TO JUMP INTO A STORM-TROOPER-LIKE OUTFIT!!!!!1 Score: 9.61/10 Final Fantasy 8 Why it belongs: Squaresoft made a game that easily kicked the socks off of Final Fantasy 7, the most overrated game of all time (It even beat Shining Force and Enter the Matrix) as well as made characters that are far cooler than the ones in FF7 (Except Sephiroth) Defining Moment: [Insert any scene with Zell or Irvine here ]Score: 9.33/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Dark Cloud System: PS2 Why it belongs: You can call it a dungeon stalker, but it is actually alot more. Sure you spend about 60% of your time in dungeons, but when you recreate the towns, you will be reminded of Sim City-And in this case, it is a very good thing. Defining Moment (Thank you A18): Have you ever noticed how Dark Genie is a mysterious foreshadowing of Majin Buu? Score: 8.99/10 Ape Escape System: PS1 Why it belongs: Super Mario 64 meets Pokemon on the PSX! Here, you guide Spike on his hillarious misadventures through time to save the world from...from...Monkeys. Yes, Monkeys, as well as save your friend Jake. Defining Moment: You know you're in for a real adventure when you see that mysterious smile on Specter's face. Score: 9.45/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Why exactly do we have to post games no one's heard of? Anyways.. Fur Fighters System: Dreamcast and PS2 Why it is great: A new idea, I guess you could say. Controlling animals with guns is fun. The single player is fun. Nice storyline, in my opinion. Many different characters with special abilites used for special parts of the game. I haven't beaten it yet, though. Multiplayer is also fun, especially with 4 players. Not many levels to choose from, though. About five or six if I remember right. The levels aren't too big either. Some character abilites don't come in to play barely at all or never. One example is Roofus (the dog) and his ability to dig under certain ground. Rating: 8/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Nightshade (NES) Why It Belongs: An incredible and very overlooked game combining action with Point-and-Click. The dialogue is a riot, and the battle scenes are quite fun. | Guest Posts: n/a | The Sims Why it belongs: Maxis has finally decided to do a family Simulator. Defining Moment: Building a house with items with creative descriptions Score: 9.95/10 Myst Why it belongs: There are a few games that completley redefine the way you think of video games. Myst is one of them, same with The Sims, Final Fantasy 4, Half Life 2, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, House of the Dead, Mortal Kombat, and Eternal Darkness. Defining Moment: Staring at the graphics in disbelief. Score: 10/10 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Fire Emblem 4 Why it Belongs: Intelligent systems finally competed with Square's FF6 in Japan for best RPG and the outcome was this, a Marth/Roy-less SRPG that has you to conquer castles(several on each map), create a powerful army by marrying powerful characters which the difficulty can be altered by selecting weaker pairings, and has a great storyline(if you can read it that is ) and symphonic music that fits great with the game. It's flaws is that preparing for the battle with the arena and buying/repairing items can be a bit tedious at times and can be a bit easy at times, but overall, it's one of the best games of all timerating: 9.77 |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Little Nemo(NES) Little Nemo, which broke new ground by being set in the year 1905 and not 20XX, was about a kid who is visited in the middle of the night by some weird pointy-hatted fairy who invites him to “Slumberland” and very non-suggestively tells him that “the princess has selected you as her playmate!” Our quick-thinking hero’s mind rapidly assembles all the pieces of this mysterious puzzle before he announces his conclusion: “If she’s a princess, then she must be a girl!” Taken aback by this young man’s quick and cunning mind, the fairy replies with “She’s not just any girl, she’s a princess!” Refusing to be swayed, Nemo takes point, set and match in the argument by boldly announcing “I bet she’s still a girl!” In awe of Nemo’s flawless debate skills, the fairy leads him to Slumberland, where he meets a green clown in a top hat named Flip. Flip gives Nemo a quick rundown of the controls and lets Nemo know that the place they’re in is far too dangerous for a young boy. He then proceeds to use his clown powers to instantly vanish without even offering to take Nemo with him. Thanks a lot, ****er. Fortunately, Nemo has a secret weapon to use against the evil frogs and death snails – a limitless supply of candy. Certain animals (specifically, the ones who don’t immediately try to trample you or bite your face off) enjoy being fed candy, and if you feed them three or four pieces they will fall asleep, at which point you can jump on them and ride them. However, in most cases you won’t actually ride them, you’ll put the animal on like a suit and gain its abilities – if you’re a frog you can swim well and jump high, if you’re a mole you can dig through dirt, etc. It’s all very strange, but since it takes place in the dreams of a kid with 400 pieces of candy in his pocket I think that’s to be expected. |

Don't bother suggesting that Mario and Zelda were better, because I was sourly disapointed in both. Rocket RULES. The best part is in the Pyramid Schemes level, where you get to fly the Gliderbike. The minigames are pretty fun too. And painting the Paint Misbehavin' level is oddly amusing. And most of the other vehicles are awesome, too. And the final level is crazy hard (unless you use cheats, which I had to do in the end for the part where you had to jump over all the lava). There's too much to love about this game. -A Genius (ROCKET RULES!!!) |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Phantasy Star IV Why it belongs: Being the best RPG on the Genesis (In my book, Shining Force 2 is 2nd, Phantasy Star II is 3rd, and LandStalker is 4th.) and being one of the funnest RPGs to play and replay period, there's no doubt this thing belongs on the list. (Anyone who thinks that only Square can make an RPG has never played this game.) Defining Moment: Turning on the game and then knowing it'll be 100x better than the previous game in the series. Score: 10/10 Loom Why it belongs: First off, let me state that if you think that LucasArts can't make a game that's not Star Wars related or a serious adventure, think again. If you seriously think that, then you have never played this game, or The Dig for that matter. Having a semi-awsome storyline and being one of LucasArt's first games period, you simply must play this game-As great as it is, it still can't compare to the everlasting greatness of Leisure Suit Larry, The long forgotten and overlooked Zak McKraken, Broken Sword, the forgotten Maniac Mansion, and Secret of Monkey Island. Defining Moment: After taking one look at our Hero Bobbin, you'll realize that for once, LucasArts is making a serious game, but painfully short too. Score: 8.50/10 [ December 16, 2003, 08:24 PM: Message edited by: Douglas of the Red Atlamilla ] |
