Aaah Earthbound. Sure you might know it if you had a Super Nintendo and maybe found it in a game store. Or maybe you only played as Ness in Super Smash Brothers Melee (That's how I heard about Fire Emblem) and learned about Earthbound from the Trophies. Or maybe you never played it and are looking forward to its upcoming port on the GBA (And I'm really looking forward to it. Earthbound was one of my favourite SNES games until I finally found Secret of Mana) Sure, some people don't like this game and bash it for no good reason (CK is not very fond of this game, but she at least has good reasons for not liking the game, so she gets a pineapple for not saying "NO BLOOD AND GORE?! NO DARK AGES?! NO SWORDS? TIS GAM SUKS!")

The graphics make this game cartoonlike. I like it. Okay okay okay, so it's only Text based battle system (You'd think that with the powers of the SNES we'd at least get to see the characters rush up and attack. You at least get to see them attack as if from the party's view in Phantasy Star, so why not here? ), and that background-UGH!! God, I swear, that's enough to give you a seizure or to make you dizzy like if you sit in the front row of Brother Bear . Also, the spell effects aren't very well done.

Ahh yes, the gameplay. I really like the creative use of items such as the pencil eraser (Better not use it near a shop that sells pencils. ) or wandering around with the Mr. Saturns. I like this gameplay, it's easy to pick up. But how will the GBA port pick these controls up?

The Storyline is a very strange one allright-Kind of strange like in Magi Nation Where Tony Jones goes into a cave and gets sucked into a very strange world where people say stuff like "Exploding Sock Puppet" (P.S, if you don't have Magi Nation, get it. You'll love it if you liked pokemon. I gotta do Magi Nation or Pokemon as game of the week sometime when I'm not hooked to Dark Cloud 2) or where Peach's voice is replaced with explosives. (It'd be hysterical if they replaced her voice with exploding sock puppets. ) In Earthbound, Ness, the hero, investigates a meteor that landed in a park, and then he is chosen by a Bee to save the world from something evil as well as the overweight kid next door (With all of that running around he did, you'd think he'd at least lose a few pounds) and he must gather the other 3 chosen ones, Paula, a girl with a fondness for frying pans, Jeff, The nerd, and Prince Poo, the black-belt with the stupid name (Okay, Prince Poo's name alone is enough to make me dislike him). There are a few parts that'll make you giggle (AAAAYYYEEE!!! I think it's a Dungbeetle! I'll squish your guts out!)

The difficulty is one issue-The game is too easy. I hardly had any trouble with any of the bosses (Or maybe it's because of that background that made he motion sick in the middle of a major battle and then I lose because of it), and just about everything requires almost no strategy, except for trying not to have a seizure in battle. Bleh.

Overall, Earthbound isn't really that bad. It's a good RPG, but it's got some problems. Earthbound is one of my favourite games on the SNES, though it was easily outdone when I got Secret of Mana (I gotta do that too-I really liked that game too). I am really looking forward too the upcoming Earthbound re-release on the GBA. I'm sure it'll be good, but I'm not looking forward to those battle graphics again. 8.56/10

I loved this game. ^^ The only problem i had with it was the inability to carry more than a very, SEVERELY limited amount of items. X_x()
