MK's Reviews: Sonic Heroes (GCN)

Well. Its early in the morning. And its time to review one of my top favorite games. Sonic Heroes may be released recently, so I will make a very positive review.

Graphics: Well... Looks like Sonic put some shoe-shining on himself and the others. Everything is very nice looking and beautifully detailed. This is definitely one of the best Sonic games to feature awesome graphics like these.

Sound: Like the Sonic Adventure series, retro 80s guitar plays mostly on the action stages, boss stages, and some other stuff. The sound effects are sort-of fitting. But some of the goofy sound effects gets kinda... icky. But this has one of the best music in a Sonic game. (besides the sound effects)

Gameplay: The most important part of any Sonic game. Gameplay. It has very good controls. Like the classical jump button for A. There are various elements in the gameplay that are too many to list. (for me, that is) You will definitely love the gameplay in this. It will give you joy. (unlike MKDD with slippery controls)

Voice Acting: Well.. This is the bad part of this game. Tails' voice sounds like Butters from South Park. Amy's voice is screeching. Charmy's voice is so high, that my ears explode. And... Espio sounds like a Gothic Knuckles. Sonic Team needs to get new voice actors. (Sonic has obviously the best voice actor)

Teams: Team Sonic is recommended to people who played SA/SA2 before, it is a well balanced team that you will count on using. Team Dark is the experts of the bunch. Shadow likes to take on a lot of enemies (i wonder why). Team Rose is recommended for the newbies of the Sonic Series. You'll have the horrible sounding Amy, the cute Cream, and the fat cat Big. Team Chaotix is a different wave to surf. They do mission-based stages like destroy all of the enemies or find this and that.

Overall: One of the best Sonic games I ever played. You gotta hand it to Sonic Team to this one. If you aren't planning to buy this, then you are missing a experience that you will never forget.

Tails needs to sound more like Linus from Peanuts, I like Espio's voice though. Charmy's voice seems ok for his age.

I would give voice acting a 7.8

Very long levels should only be listed under con, IMO. It gets annoying. Especially with Team Dark's levels.

HA. I heard this game was pretty mundane. Just like the rest in the series... I mean, Sonic is cool and all, but I've never once in my life enjoyed their 'modified' version of a Mario game.

Heh, I agree that this game kicked ass. Yeah the one thing I hated was the voice acting. Tails was ugh in this game...Espio sounded cool despite being a gothic Knux or a slighly different Shadow. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

ALL of Team Rose's voices made me just want to kill myself. I mean jeebus..why not make them more annoying!? Charmy's voice made it hard for me to know if he was a guy or really a girl. o_o

They could have done more with the music. It was for the most part good but it didn't quite best that of Sonic Adventure 2. Still good though.

I've also been desensitized to the voices too when I compared it to Sonic X.

Charmy's a guy and a little kid, so I got used to his voice quick.

Rouge's voice is the only one that really bothers me. And maybe Charmy

I dunno. Maybe I should rent it first.
