The one game that told of Sonic's legacy, Sonic Adventure 2 started on Dreamcast. Considered by many as probably Sonic's best game yet, Sonic Adventure 2 set the limits of Dreamcast and proved the greatness of Sega. Then, in early 2002 (I believe), they ported it to the Gamecube. They made improvements to the already awesome game. The main one is the 2P Battle Mode, where you could play different modes with different characters.

Story: Sonic was captured by the Military! Why? They think it was him who escaped from the Military Base. However, Sonic is innocent, and he puts matters into his own hands. He grabs a piece of metal and drops from the airplane, and begins his quest... of course, after finding the real culprit, Sonic is captured again.

Off a distance, Tails is flying to the island where Sonic is held to rescue him. However, he finds Amy there, and Eggman is right behind her. Tails turns the Tornado into the Cyclone, and prepares for battle...

Before that, though, Knuckles is in a conflict with a bat. A certain bat named Rouge. She wants it to add to her collection of jewels. Knuckles will not give it up, because of it's power to neutralize the power of the Chaos Emeralds. Of course, during that time, Eggman snatches it. However, Knuckles manages to break it to prevent it from being stolen. Now Knuckles must find all the pieces to restore it.

DARK STORY:

Shadow, the Ultimate Lifeform.... 50 years ago, the Space Colony ARK was shut down due to an accident. However, Shadow remembers Maria... he promised her... REVENGE. And he will take it to the humans, who killed Maria, at all costs.

Eggman was the one who released Shadow from the Military Base. At first glance, he thought it was Sonic who would spoil his plans. However, Shadow proved his power, and told Eggman to come to the ARK. There, he found the Ecclipse Cannon, a Top Secret Weapon that had such great power to destroy an entire planet. In order to restore the power, he has to get all 7 Chaos Emeralds.

Rouge, you know from Knuckles story. Rouge will also hunt the Master Emerald shards, just not as many. She'll hunt for different things (Including Chaos Emeralds).

Controls: Great controls. Sonic/Shadow have the ability to do rail grinds and sumersaults(sp). Knuckles/Rouge controls have some of Sonic Adventure 1, but first, digging is more essintial. You can do a dig dive from the sky, and dig into walls, also. Tails/Eggman are mainly like E-102 Gamma. You walk around in their machine, use the laser to lock on, and fire. New things include a health meter, so whether you have rings or not, you lose health (Which helps when you don't have any). Course, you still lose rings. Another new thing is the Volkan Cannon, which shoots bullets, which can break containers. Overallm, controls are a big improvement, although some areas (Final Chase/Rush, whichever is Shadow's, comes to mind with the spinning drums)

Music: Great music. More songs have lyrics to them, and even those that don't are still great (Sky Rail comes to mind). Mainly, I didn't find any of the music irratating (Although Aquatic Mine wasn't that great). And as usual, there's the theme song of Sonic Adventure 2 is the best. (Live and Learn).

Chao Garden: It's back! One of the best things is the Chao Garden is a bit different. One of the things is that you can connect Sonic Advnace to SA2:B to download your Chao. When raising Chao, because you have Hero and Dark sides, if a Chao gets a lot of attention from a certain side, they will grow with an attribute to that side (IE, raise a Chao with mainly a Hero, it will become a hero), so the Hero/Dark fruits are about worthless. Also, raising a Hero/Dark Chao unlocks that type of Garden.

Overall: This is a great game. Now that it's $20, it's a steal.

Pros and cons:

+ Some of the best music.

+ If you get all 180 emblems, you will unlock a 3D version of Green Hill Zone.

+ CHAO!!!! ^_^

+ Live and Learn (Theme Song, Super Sonic) is better than thou.

+ Shadow is better, so shaddup, Wonder Wario

+ Voice acting is MUCH better.

+ Kart racing, heh.

+ 2P Battle Mode. Keeps ya busy.

+ Enough Emblems to keep you busy for a while...

- Perhaps TOO many x_X They are really hard at times, plus to get all 180, you need to get an A in all the missions.

- They basically reused each Hero character for Dark side, and just varied the upgrades a little.

- I wasn't fond of Omochao. I perfered Tikal. Luckily, you got to do stuff to Omochao (Pick it up, throw it, shoot it/make it malfunction for a few seconds, throw at enemies which destroys them).

- After connecting Sonic Advnace to Sonic Adventure 2:Battle when you get all 180 emblems, you'll get... Maria's theme? That's all?

Luigi007's rating: 9.0. (Out of 10)

Hmm... while typing that, I didn't get the same feeling of success from my SAX review. Huh... comments, anybody?

There's a lot of both good and bad things about the game. Personally, I think it's worth more of a 7/10.

The game deserved a 7.5/10 when it was released. If you can find for really cheap, then I'd reccomend it for a buy. It's simply too outdated now for a price over 15-20 dollars.

Luigi007 is %90 right, I just got the game a few weeks ago(It was only $12! ), and for it's price, it is a very fun game. Chao raising is pretty fun, and yes, the "Live and Learn" song ownz.

The only reason I prefer to play Sonic Adventure Dx is because it is more rewarding getting all the emblems (Must... get... Sonic Drift...)

Hmm... Riiiiight...
Maybe if someone would explain what was so "great" about Shadow besides, "just because", I might change my mind. But don't hold your breathe.
