It looks pretty much like GTA, only more realistic and deeper gameplay elements. I'm not sure how much freedom you have, but other than that it looks alright.

Thoughts?

Depends. I'd actually have to play the game before I buy it. In some ways i believe it'll be better than GTA but not all the way. GTA rules all, so i can't say anything bad about it.

I don't think so. I mean they say it will be better, but saying it is..and it actually being better are 2 different beasts.

One question, will it have prostitutes that you can pick up and restore your health, exploding heads, and allowed random violence?

Well, if it's gonna be like GTA, I dunno if I want to buy it then, as I already own GTAIII & Vice City.

I'll probably end up renting it or borrowing it from one of my friends.

I don't think I'm gonna buy it, because it looks like it revolves much more around driving missions, and those aren't really my thing. I'll just rent it.

Tycho from Penny-Arcade seems to think it's about average. I should have rented it today while I was out, but I forgot.

I'd rather rent games then go out and buy them and find out they bite the big one.

Yeah, I bought this game called Soldier of Fortune. I didn't beat half of the first stage before I immediately went back to the store and switched it for another game.

I saw The Getaway today at my video rental store, but I wasn't with any adults and I'm 13, so I got Spiderman. I beat it in about 8 hours or so.

Renting games is essential to the overall decision of buying or not buying games. The key to any unknown answer to this mysterious and influencial question is renting. Rent it, if you like it, buy it, if not: Go GTA on the store owner and beat them with your favorite weapon from any of the games...

Oh, and there's still time to vote for me at the GTA Forum, so get over there!

Well, I recently talked to a friend who said that the getaway was actually better than GTA. Then again, in light of this new information ^ that you have to beat certain missions in order to free roam I have to say stick with GTA.
