The Salvation Army carries video games? I thought they did clothes... Also, that sucks. A lot. Go beat it again now.

Try it again. I'd say 3 more times. If it freezes up on EVERY one, then you should return it and buy a new one.

Does it have scratches?

If so, I reccommend getting a DiskDr (or something akin to it, whatever you can find that gets rid of scratches)

Man, sorry about that Guild. That actually happened to me with Final Fantasy 9 on my first playthrough - I got a disc cleaner, but it didn't change the fact I had to beat stupid Kuja and Necron (easily the best wtf? boss out there) all over again.

It's possible to remove scratches from discs? How do they manage to do it? All that "Scratch removal" stuff doesn't really do that much, but a lot actually HAVE made the performance on scratched discs better. For some reason, a lot of those typically don't work as well on some of my Playstation CD's, the ones with the black bottoms notably. (They worked wonders with a few scratched audio CDs though)

I heard some rather obscure methods to removing scratched CD's, some that sound rather Mythbuster-ish:

-Put the CD in the toilet and flush it, the water will clean the CD if you put it so that it is clogging the hole. (How on earth would that help?)
-Toothpaste. (I'm not joking...I've heard Toothpaste actually helps CD scratches)

GameDr. That was it.

Instructions on how to do it if you can read them.

It's basically that there is a plastic covering over where the actualy data is stored on the disc. This thing buffs away a part of the layer, hopefully getting rid of all the scratchers. It works pretty well for any CD.

Buried under a ton of junk somewhere in your house, I'd assume.

I'd try to find it and take it with you to college. It's quite useful in fixing DVDs that stop or skip and games that won't play.
