Uhm....link? Because if all it shows is them talking in one cutscene, that doesn't mean much of anything.

"Oh no, people have voices that might not sound like I want them to! Ablooblublo"

I don't really understand the complaint.

^I have a history of creating voices for characters on sight. If no one wants to recognize my beliefs because Square is imposing a set of beliefs on us, then I feel my creativity is unwanted. -CSM

That's not creativity, though. You aren't doing anything but assigning voices to people in your head. That's a natural transition.

Gametrailers.com - Final Fantasy IV - TGS 07 Trailer

Here's a better version of the trailer. Looks like the voice acting will only be in cutscenes.

Also? That looks so freaking awesome holy crap.

Honestly, can't fans have the right to imagine? I don't want voice imposition shoved down my throat. I want to decide what characters I like sound like. I don't want to hear "This is what character X sounds like, and you better like the voice, because we're paying someone MILLIONS to do this voice." I want my imagination and creativity back.

Oh, and here's your trailer.

I enjoyed Super Mario Sunshine less because of Bowser's voice.

I don't think I understand what you're trying to say.

So, everybody, Kain's Japanese voice: bad-ass, or really bad-ass?

What I'm saying is when a celebrity creates a voice for a character they're paid to voice, it's apparently automatically better than any voice a fan came up with for years when the character didn't have a voice only because the voice is done by a professional.

Kain's voice is deep and thick. Needs to be British. -CSM

I like how it says "No Pictures" under the video screen.

It's far too early to judge this game anyways. You can't ever really make a decision based on a trailer.

^True. And frankly, the voice acting looks like it's gonna be the only snag so far. Everything else looks amazing, especially Rydia's summoning Leviathan cutscene.

Still, if I decide to make a flash cartoon with Kain in it and submit it to Newgrounds and I give him a British accent and Kain's voice in the game isn't British, I'll have a bunch of fanboys lambasting me for it. -CSM

A little hard when they are speaking in Japanese.

Seriously, WAIT UNTIL MORE DEMOS COME OUT BEFORE YOU TRASH THE VOICE ACTING. You don't know what voices will be used - it's a tad bit presumptuous to assume that any voice YOU come up with will be better before evening seeing the finished product. Talk about having an ego.

I'm half on CSM's side. Here's my stance:

I am not a fan of voice-acting. I would rather not have it--and if a Zelda game ever adds voice-acting further than what they have, I might cry myself to sleep that night.

However, voice-acting has rarely ruined a game for me, mostly because I can just turn the sound down. While it does take away the imagination aspect of the game, which I miss, it adds another aspect of reality. If it's done well.

For me, though, one of the best aspects of a video game is the music. Sadly, the music of a game, with great music but terrible voice acting, can be completely ignored. Case in point: Tales of Symphonia.

Me? I would absolutely love a game designer who decides to make it a changeable option in the menu to have voice-acting or not. When someone comes along and does this, it shall be a glorious day for any RPG fan. That way, people like CSM can turn it off, people like Wy can turn it on, and people like me can decide whether or not they like it and option accordingly.

semi-unrelated: We all have to admit...the "voice-acting," if you can call it that, in Banjo-Kazooie made your ears bleed.

(And, on-topic with the argument, I'd rather there not be voice-acting in FFIV, to make it more like the original. But I reserve judgment for now.)

^I completely agree with you. SO3 had optional voice acting. They need to do it with all the other games.

I've never played ToS, so I don't know much about the voice acting. All I know is that judging by the way the game looks the voices will probably be very bad.

That wasn't voice acting in BK. It was some crappy sound guy. -CSM

Keep in mind also the Japanese voices will not be the same as the English.

^I know, but a lot of dubbed voice acting jobs are below average. Take your average Anime dub, KH, FFX, and so on. FFXII was, like, the lone exception. -CSM

Oh Jesus.

Cowboy Bebop, Blue Submarine No. 6, Trigun, Street Fighter II:The Animated Movie, Metal Gear in all of its forms, Tales of Symphonia was pretty capable, Spirited Away was great, Princess Mononoke's dubbing was fantastic, both Ghost in the Shell movies....

Do I really, really need to go on?

One thing people fail to realize is that Japan has just as many "Bad voice actors" as the U.S, and because they try to match them or are designed to somewhat resemble their original japanese voice actors, it doesn't really match.

I honestly don't like when the women characters make my ears bleed or when the males sound like they're either bored out of their mind when they're planning to kill someone or like they're constipated. (Though the bored-out-of-their-mind is more common)
