Worst dungeons ever

Looking back on some RPGs, you have some fond memories of beating the impossible bosses or getting the uber weapons.

But looking back on some dungeons, you also remember how much they PISSED. YOU. OFF.

Third is Turtle Rock in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I wound up wondering around that place for months. When I found that place in front of the mini-boss guarding the fire rod, I spent god-knows-how-long running around trying to find the crystal Switch.

And remember the room with the statue surrounded by lava? Would you believe you're supposed to shoot that thing with an arrow to get the key to show up? Yeah, everyone's smart enough to figure THAT out! And when I finally figured it out, I felt really really stupid.

Second worst is Lezard's Tower in Valkyrie Profile. I'm sure you remember my recent frustration with that thing. Ugh, going through that place without a walkthrough is a nightmare. Several of the chests are very VERY easy to miss. Not to mention, the enemies are so powerful for the level you might have trouble beating them. (Damn dragon zombies!) In fact, there's that little treasure you can get out of the creation Gem that is missed VERY easily. It also doesn't help when there are enemies standing RIGHT ON TOP OF THE DOOR when you enter.

But the worst dungeon ever is the Shadow Hold in Magi Nation. Fortunately, it's optional but if you want the best ending, you'll have to complete that hell. If Lezard's tower is hell, The Shadow Hold is all seven levels of hell trapped into one building. It's so bad, they even gave you the option to skip it.

If you want to do the Shadow Hold should you find the game, go to Gamefaqs. you are going to need it. The way through that dungeon is so cryptic and complicated there's no way anyone's going to figure it out on their own without spending 14 hours of their lives in there. I've only gotten through there once in six years, and I used an FAQ. Believe me, if you're going through that place, it's so easy to get lost, even WITH a walkthrough. It's easier to just hack the damn Cloud Frond you get for completing it (It's key to getting the best ending). If you do manage to complete that, you definitely deserve the best ending in the world and a greater reward, even greater if you manage to figure it out by yourself in less than 14 hours.

On top of it all, the encounters are random inside the Shadow Hold, making an even bad situation WORSE. The visuals are nice at least, and its' good for farming core animite but believe me, you are NOT going to want to spend more than a few minutes in there at most.

I hate dungeons in general, but I ended up lost and frustrated in the Twin Horns area of Rogue Galaxy. ****ING HIDDEN DOORS AND BACKTRACKING.

I can remember going in thinking "Hey, the other two dungeons containing one of the three relics were easy and quick... This one is bound to be the same. Let's get it over with already." So I delved in. Immediately, I realized it was a ****ing maze. Even so, I soldiered through, making it to the first of the two bosses and killing him. Then I traveled back to kill one of the two quarries there. After that, I got lost. I had no idea that I was supposed to go back to the beginning of the dungeon and start over. And then bull**** happens: I got lost again. I can't even remember how I got my ass into that second boss's room, but I know I somehow did it. And I know I'm gonna hate the ghost ship more, but I am too lazy to try to get to it after my data was deleted.

Most of my complaints come from Water Dungeons.(maybe it's the real reason why I hate water?)

The Water Temple(OoT): The first time through, for anyone, is a pain in the ass. I don't mean the Master Quest version, as that one's not as bad anyway, but the original version.

Great Bay Temple(Majora's Mask): Getting to some areas is nigh impossible, and requires perfect timing...which you don't have time for it. Not to mention that the boss is freakin' broken...

Blue Cave(Quest 64): It, itself, is a freakin' maze, and there's two full parts to it. It takes forever to save, and of course, most of the enemies there are rediculously powerful. Even when you have 500 HP, any monster that does 20-30 damage a pop and has 250 some HP can be a pain in the butt. Then imagine fighting four at a time(no exaggerations either). Yeah, it has its hard moments...

Some dungeons throughout Zelda games can be annoying, more so in the Oracle games, but I digress... I can't think of other Water related dungeons that were hard. Maybe Dungeon 2(Dark World) on ALttP? Link's Awakening's only Water dungeon was slightly hard till you got the flippers...

However, Minish Cap's Temple of Droplets was a Water Dungeon I LIKED. It was fun, and well made. The boss was a little annoying though...

I'd have to say the Water Temple in OoT. I mean, it's so damned tedious. I even stopped a recent OoT playthrough just because I couldn't stand that place.
