A friend asked me to ask if Jehovah's Witness is at all related to Final Fantasy 7

I was sure the last boss was Jehovah and didn't it have like a cult?

Jenova. No 'h'. But I guess you could say that she had an obsessive 'cult' following, led by Sephiroth Spoiler Below

(and in Advent Children, the three lunatics who continue to refer to her as 'mother').

But no, no relation to the religion.

Some of the naming is based on real religious stuff, e.g. Sephiroth. It's not impossible that Jenova is some sort of corruption of Jehova.

The "cult" with Jenova were clones/research subjects injected with Jenova's cells. Jenova's desires and influence remains despite being dissected and injected into other's, which impels them towards "reunion" in FF7.
