I think I am running low on RPGs for the system, so list your favorites, but they have to be in English, and I'd prefer some obscure titles, not just FF or something. Wow. If I beat all the good SNES RPGs, that'll really force me into checking out the NES library better... Oh, and no hacks/mods or whatever, just official games. |

Usually they're already fan translated so you don't need to do any patching. Then again, the PSX version with the translation patch is a hundred times better, so I would go with that, honestly. |

I didn't know it went back so far. Anyway, I'll certainly look into that one. And thanks for the advice but I'll get the SNES version. If a good game has a rerelease, I prefer to play them both, original first; then the rerelease when I forget most of it. |

Also just as a warning...Tales of Phantasia's got a lot of stuff that doesn't work. Chester was stuck in a state of Can't-Catch-Up (SImilar to Bow in Breath of Fire 2), has no attacks but he still can hold his own, and most annoyingly the action freezes every single time a spell is cast. So I know it's a good game but I can't play it....because I've been way too spoiled by all the other games like Tales of Vesperia. |

| Senior Member | Shouldn't the talk of patching games be considered under discussion of roms since the only patch you can do is to patch a rom? I don't care about it personally, but some others might. As for good RPGs for the SNES, The 7th Saga was pretty good and had some unique qualities still not seen in modern RPGs. BOF 1 and 2 were also good. The best I think were Lufia 1 and 2 though. |

If anyone locks the topic, guess we'll know why...But for the record, I didn't mention ROMs. =| |

So if you're iffy on the subject, just hunt down a copy of the game before dealing with the rom. ![]() |

It has its problems(like Quest 64) does, but it's challenge and length are just right for many games. There's only one save file, though. |

I can't remember. But yeah, great game, make sure to buy the cart first though... *shifty eyes* |

Hahahaha-ha. ^ The NES..mmm, yeah. The only games I fiddled with on it so far are Zelda, Mario and Mega Man (I think). Good system, but it can wait until I salvage every worthy game on SNES. |

| Senior Member | I doubt those talking about Tales of Phantasia's english patch own a japanese version of the rom. Besides, modifications of games are considered illegal in themselves too. But yeah don't lock it until IRHP gets his list I guess. |

Because now I have to mention it. But beyond that, everyone else hit the nail on the money. Except with Illusion of Gaia. I have to say that is my least favorite game of all time. -CSM |
