Its a constant that the evil antagonist wants to become a god or otherwise all powerful. Garland becomes God of Discord, Mateus becomes the Emperor of Hell, Kefka becomes a god, Sephiroth tries to become a god, Ultimecia wants to be the Goddess of Time . . .

I know not all of them do it but a lot of them try to ascend into godhood.

Maybe that's because there are people who're actually like that in the world? Everyone wants power...and what's more powerful than the government, the royalty, the Pope, the Emperor? Why, a god obviously. There have been numerous people who've become so drunk with power they wanted to be reminded of how powerful they are by trying to be called a god. There were a few roman emperors who did just that, a few popes in the middle ages, and let's not forget the most famous example of a person who wanted to become a god....

Yeah. It's just a common symbolic thing, really...Because why settle for being an emperor of the world when you can be the emperor of the entire friggin universe? Even the ruler of the world has to play by its rules...a god can just go "Screw the rules, I have power" and do just that.

Omega: "I am the messiah! Hahahahaha!" ("WARE WA MESIAH NARI!! HAHAHAHA!")
Weil: "I am the devil!"
Albert: "I don't think I'm a god...I AM a god!"

But, yeah. Done a lot, but it gives good motivation to stop someone I suppose.

The Pokemons themselves get imprisoned in those little capsule things. And you can't bust them out. -CSM

I thought Team Rocket imprisoned you at one point. Like, not in a real prison, but in a room or something.

Yeah, I remember that. They wouldn't let you out for days, and eventually you have to eat your pokemon. If you have a pikachu, then you can **** lightning for about 10 minutes.
