Aika: Okay, we can try to work on some of those. Which do you want to try?

This seems kind of boring to you, so if you want I'll let you just make an Intelligence check for quality of the device if you don't want to go into detail about it. That sound any better than the current goings-on?

Marcus worked on the firing device for over three hours, until he had created something he believed to be operable. Aika had devised a protective cover for the gun, and Miaka had what seemed to her to be a good exploding bullet. Danovar walked about, occasionally adding some gruff input but otherwise keeping to himself. Everything seemed to be in order after three hours. Obviously, their first efforts would require work, but for now at least prototypes existed.

What now?

a) Test it out
b) Check the stuff over
c) Something else

Aika: Okay, but be careful, Marcus. I'm not too sure about my cover...
Marcus: Well, alright. Let's see about this.

Marcus went to the Testing Area and aimed at the far wall.

Marcus: Here goes!

He fired. The gun jerked a little, but Marcus held it steady and it zoomed into the wall. There was a massive explosion on impact, enough to send them all sprawling, although the virtually indestructible Testing Area remained more or less unscathed. After the explosion, footsteps, followed by a door opening and closing, were heard outside. Shrugging, they surmised it was just some late inventors.

Marcus: So, uh... yeah?
Aika: Good thing that didn't go off in the gun, heh.
Miaka: Maybe I should tone that down a bit... or should I? Oo, oo! What if we made it so that you could have varying levels? Like, there would be some small-explosion ones, and some that would explode enough to break a boulder! Oh, yeah! I'll start working on it right--
Aika: Hey, hey, cool it. Well... what do you think, Marcus?

What do you think? Adjustments, comments, whatever?

They worked for the rest of the day on their invention. (Inv. Prof. + 1) Since they lived underground, the only way to tell time was the relentless ticking of the omnipresent clocks, which had long recessed into their subconsciousness. They didn't know how late it was when Danovar returned, tired and distressed.

Danovar: Well, that rumor's true. The council's united for once. We're gonna try and take over the world.
Aika: Wow... what should we do?
Miaka: If I remember right, they tried this once before... it's what got us banished from the surface world, actually. It's been brought up before, but it's always been shot down.
Danovar: Huh... somebody did their homework. Anyway, seems like they're serious this time. Dispatching troops to different tunnels, digging up to the surface, using old routes. Probably have some fancy plans for it, although obviously I didn't get a look at any.
Aika: That's a lot to digest. Let's finish up what we're doing, maybe make a couple ammo chains for me and Marcus, and decide what we'll do before we go to sleep. We can do that tomorrow, whatever we decide. Sound good?
Miaka: Sure thing, Aika. What should we do? Marcus?

Oh yeah, forgot... Inv. Prof. = Invention Proficiency. Basically how good your team is at making your invention. Right now it's 1, so you're a little better at making each part than you were before. I'll edit it into Marcus's stats.
