Past the door is a room, in which a wizened old crone with runes covering her face is playing an extremely ornate flute. She looks up as soon as you step foot inside.

Woman: Hello there, child.
Dark: Hi. You're Ilsya?
Woman: Yes, that is I. You have come for the antidote to Stodbril's poison?
Dark: Yes.
Ilsya: Here. Take this. Hopefully it'll alleviate some of his anger. He is not a pleasant one.

She gives you a tiny glass vial in which some orange liquid is contained. Return to Stodbril?

You return along the same path. You come back and Stodbril looks up.

Stodbril: Get the antidote?
Dark: Yep, right here.

You hand him the vial. He drains it with one violent motion and wipes his chops.

Stodbril: Okay. You settled, not melted... means you didn't die, congrats. You've passed, so you can get out of my face. Say this at the southern door in the room you got your blindfold taken off.

He takes a little while digging around within his pockets, cursing. He finally finds what he was looking for and takes it out. It's a small piece of paper that reads "The first snow falls." He then replaces it.

Mission complete!

+100 EXP. You leveled up. Choose another move for your Primary Focus, and split 250 between your stats, and 200 between HP and MP.

You follow his orders and go back to the first room you were in. You find the southern door and put the key in. As you open it, you find a dagger at your throat.

Voice: Quick, how's the weather outside?
Dark: The first snow falls.
Voice: ...right. Come in, First Snow.

Guild Promotion: First Snow. +50 EXP. Usually you get one new skill for each focus, but not for the first one. You also get a "rank gift," which you'll receive shortly, new shop items, better payoffs, and in four promotions you'll get Specializations.

The door is pushed open the rest of the way to reveal a tall, blonde woman. She leads you into a hall with several doors on each side. She opens the first one on the right and takes you in.

On one wall, there are several weapons: swords, daggers, darts, and crossbows. She crosses the room and sizes you up.

Woman: Hi, I'm Aesryl the Sharp. I make sure all our First Snows get some basic equipment. Think of it as your first rank gift. Here's 500 gold, and choose one of these weapons.

She indicates the iron swords, daggers, darts, and light crossbows on the shelves.

Aesryl: You can buy more at the shop, although you're a little limited due to your rank. What's it gonna be?

a) Sword
b) Dagger
c) Darts
d) Crossbow

Note that you can use pretty much any weapon, this isn't a permanent choice. Just a starter thing.

She takes a sheathed longsword from the shelf and hands it to you. You secure it on your waist.

Aesryl: Okay, you can do whatever you want now. I'd suggest doing your blood note to get yourself some more gold-- plus we're practically overflowing with them as it is. And not everybody comes back from them... bah. Of course, you can check around the complex, outfit yourself at the shop, hang out, whatever you want to do. Alright... I've got to guard the door, you go on down the hall to the right and do whatever it is you're gonna do.

With that, she opens the door and leaves, taking her position at the door leading into the antechamber. You figure the rest of the complex is down the hall. You hear a miniscule popping noise and glance downward. You find one perfectly folded, perfectly white piece of paper in your hand. Unfolding it, you read in what appears to be blood: Byrgeld the Rover. Do what?

a) Find out more about Byrgeld
b) Look for a shop
c) Look for people to ask stuff
d) Check around the complex

Woman: Hey, you're new?
Dark: Yeah.
Woman: Welcome to the guild, I'm Droia.
Dark: Hi, I'm Dark. Where can I find information about my blood note targets?
Droia: You can ask random people in the guild, or you can go ask our savant and spymaster Eysa. Her office is down that hall. She knows something about practically everybody-- enough to give you a lead, at least, and usually enough to target yer victim to within a province, city, even building. I'd give her a try.
Dark: Sure, thanks.

Go to Eysa, ask random people, or something else?
