Brandon, thinking he intruded enough, left the pokemon center and started to walk toward the house in the corner of the town.

Before Brandon could even get too far, an old man stood from the side of the door, his face wide with a grin as he noticed a fresh face approaching, "why hello, there sonny! I can tell by that look in your eyes that you're a new trainer, don't deny it, everyone has to start somewhere! Now, you interested in a little game? No funny stuff, just a couple questions, if ya answer them right, I'll give ya a wonderful prize, what do you say?"

The old man grinned even wider as he brought out a little firecracker, having it set off with a wave of confetti as he laughed to himself, "yes, yes, good! I will ask you three questions! Question one!:"

Oh these four Pokemon, which does not have a pre-evolution?

A) Smoochum
B) Magmar
C) Pikachu
D) Wobuffet

Brandon was a little puzzled on this one, yet he thought he new the right answer from studying ghost pokemon.

"The answer is C, Sableye."

Brandon thought he also knew the answer to this question.

"The end of the word, Nidoqueen, symbolizes that Nidoqueen is always female, since queens are always female. So I'll guess Nidoqueen."

The man stamped his foot, "oh no! I got mixed up with that last question! And I worked so hard with all those questions too . . . fine! As I promised, this is yours!"

The mysterious man handed Brandon a large part of what seemed to be burned wood . . . Charcoal?

"We'll meet again! Believe that!" the man said, before he threw a Pokeball at the ground, releasing a rather large Pokemon, it was huge, but Brandon didn't get a good look at it . . ."

"Smokescreen!" As smoke billowed from its muzzle, making Brandon cough hard. After the smoke cleared, the man was gone, although he still had the Charcoal in his hands.

Brandon had read about this item before. It increased fire attacks. "Hold this, Houndour." Brandon handed the charcoal to Houndour. He remembered he was still in front of a house and wanted to walk in it..

Brandon enters the house, but doesn't see anything of interest . . . he turns to leave when something gleams very slightly off from the large flower pot in the corner.

Brandon headed out the house glad about what happened. He figured he would check the pokemart next to see if he could get anything.

Brandon leaves the pokemart, since he's so low on cash and wasting no time, walks north towards route 30, leaving Cherrygrove behind.

As brandon heads North, he spots the road splitting, one road to the east, filled with tall grass, as well as a road to the west, not to much grass but there are quite a number of people hanging out, even a couple hanging battles! Between them in the fork of the road is a house with a strange looking tree next to it . . .
