I used to think Zephiel was really intimidating, from Fire Emblem 6 (The one with Roy from SSBM)

The first time I fought it, the Elder Wyrm from FFXII really pissed me off. Giving everyone all those status ailments sucked. Luckily, I figured out that if you stood far away enough, you wouldn't get hit with the spore attack he used.

And learning to totally abuse the Quickenings didn't hurt either.

Also, Evrae from FFX. Gahahrhhahah, I despise this fight.

^I still am trying to figure out quickenings. Once, I managed to chain about 8 together... but haven't been able to since. That's no fun.

Some of the bosses you mentioned I've beaten on my first try, such as Shadow Queen, Bonetail, and Abyssion. Yeah, I used an all-divide on Abyssion, but I don't know if that makes the fight any easier. It just makes the fight take MUCH longer!

I still haven't beaten the Iron Giant in the DS remake of FF3. My characters are currently at level 79 and they still don't last longer than three rounds against it!

I also remember fighting Ray in Breath of Fire 2. After a few rounds, he would perform this one attack that causes massive amounts of damage to your party, and he would do this OVER and OVER and OVER from then on. The first time, I didn't realize I had to use my new "G.Drgn" power to end the battle. I also tried to fight the final boss without obtaining Anfini!

I am P.O'd at the Pit of 100 Trials. I got past level 50, debated going back up to the top, and DIDN'T. I then died.

I was pissed. :/

And as final bosses go, Shadow Queen is pretty dang hard. I beat her my first try on my first playthrough. I'm on my second playthrough now. A few months ago I got to her and got her down to SEVEN HP. She killed me. Stupid Vivian had wasted all of my Life Shrooms. :/

So, I stopped playing for awhile.

THEN, yesterday, I give her another shot.

AGAIN. SEVEN FREAKING HP.

Except this time, at least, Vivian didn't waste up my Life Shrooms. I stupidly did. :/

Srsly, as final bosses go, Shadow Queen is pretty hard.

Don't even want to know what fighting Bonetail is like. ><
Probably something like that time I tried fighting Hooktail without the Cricket badge. Yep, that was fun while it lasted. For what, two minutes? XD

Well, since this has been bumped anyway, and I just beat this guy,

I find him extremely difficult even with spur. It took me about a year and a half to beat that bastard. I'm sure I've fought harder bosses, but I can't think of any right now, so I'd say he's the hardest boss I've fought.

I found Shadow Queen a little hard, but I managed to beat her my first try. Never made it to Bonetail thuogh.

Wulfgar, Final Fantasy Tactics. When you fight him one on one with Ramza, without serious level building and job bull****ting. It's insanity. I beat him by mastering all of Ramza's Guts skills and running away/YELLing until his turn came around like five times in a row. And then, of course, comes Velius

^Yes, that battle is a bitch. Though, in FFT: War of the Lions, it seemed like, a million times easier than before. Maybe because I levelled like crazy in anticipation, but I still beat him in like, two hits.

I remember there was a very difficult boss in Breath of Fire II which involved two girls and a plant, and I think every hit on them they'd counter with a move that drains your MP. -CSM

Kulex in Super Mario RPG was impossible (CAN YOU EVEN BEAT THE GUY??)!
I'll second or third or fifty-sixth anyone who said Ozma in FFIX.
Kurt Zisa in Kingdom Hearts gave me more trouble than anyone.
Maxwell and Cress in Tales of Destiny 2 (Tales of Eternia).

Sephiroth in FF7. (I had no KOTR materia. So I took 3 hours fighting him.)

That's the only real fight though. I play Pokemon, but it's too easy for me. The only toughies were the E4 in Leaf Green--with good reason, their evil pokemon were the only thing between me and Mewtwo at the time.

For a year or two after, I spent my time clobbering them with Mewtwo alone.

I forgot Ozma. What a bitch. Especially since it was just a floating ball.
