You've never been horrified until you hear a kid say that:
"Final Fantasy X(not 10 mind you. Ex)is the first RPG, and the best because the ones that came after it had crummy graphics and had no voices."

He used FF6 as an example. ....FF6. My brain almost imploded from the confusion of...is this kid stupid? Or doing this on purpose?

Thumbs down

I've seen people bash CT for inane reasons borderlining of mental retardation. One of which: Magus is just a ripoff of the Grim Reaper!

Me: ...

I've see a review of FF7 saying it is the best RPG ever. In every category. With superior graphics than ff8 and 9, borderlining on that of the PS2's.

Me: ...*laughter*

I've seen a review of FF8 putting it to the status of ROG GOD. By someone who could not string two cohernet sentences together. And who said FF8's love story was beautiful and totally believable.

Me: *chokes*

I've seen reviews accusing older FF storylines of being cliches... with examples from games that came... after the ones mentioned... -_-

Me: ... ... ...(SoM style. =])

Yeah.

Gamefaqs is a cesspool of unbridled, cankerous stupidity. If idiocy itself could be harnassed in the form of an energy, I would trackl down 90% percent or so of Gamefaqs reviewers, and use the accumulated power to collapse the entirity of the universe. And this is coming from someone who reviews at gamefaqs. So I know who my comrades-in-keyboards are.

*Cough*Fanboy!*Cough*

That guy's probably a Troller. If that was for real, then he's the dumbest person on the internet besides that Jimmy and Graham Crackers over at XSunderground or Mr. Woffums at SAQ. Saying the ones before it had Crummy graphics and had no voices? Shows what that guy knows about the old gaming systems-NOTHING!! Sure, the PS1 could do voices (Final Fantasy 9 could have used voices), but saying the previous versions had crummy graphics is just that guy saying "I'm stupid".

Whoever thinks that is politician material.

The guy who wrote that review is a moron. Final Fantasy 8's love story was fiction. It would have been believable that a guy like Leo-I mean Squall could fall in love with a girl like Rinoa if she weren't so dang annoying.

And yes, Gamefaqs is home to 90 or so percent of fanboys and trollers on da internet. I'm not one of them, neither is Codiekitty or Erdawn because we actually PLAY the games before reviewing them. There was a guy there who was bashing Mario and Luigi Superstar saga and gave various hints throughout his review that he didn't even get past HooHoo mountain. And let's not forget the moron who wrote a completley half-wit review for Phantasy Star IV, gave various hints that he was emulating it, and somehow managed to get review of the day. Nimrod.

You could call him a troller if he wasn't next to me in Walmart on the other machine as I played some Super Mario 4 Advance.

I remember when sa group of kids(couldn'tve been older than 10) all came into the electronics boutique, and the one in leads was like, "I've got the PERFECT game for you. FINAL FANTASY X-2! It's like the best game ever."

Hahahaha.

Something like that happened at my gamestop. A guy reccomended the N64 Castlevania to me when I was like 9 or 10. (The game scared the crap out of me, partly because it scared me, but partly because it was SO TERRIBLE IT MAKES HYLIDE LOOK LIKE PHANTASY STAR IV!!)

^No...It was called FINAL FANTASY, no 1 in the title. And Final Fantasy isn't the first RPG...But that's open for debate.

And I have no taste? Explain.

I'm pretty sure Dragon Warrior came before FF. I'm not going to bother looking this up, though.

I'm not really sure about which RPG came first. Either Adventure, Zelda, Dragon Warrior, or Final Fantasy, Wizardry, or Castle of the Winds.

'Toch said somewhere what the first RPGs were, but I don't remember what they were. The Ultima games, I think.

As for my list...

I'm gonna post anything I felt was great and didn't feel was an overrated Squaresoft work (no matter how overrated; even if "Awesome, but not the Second Coming like everybody hails it as").

Threads of Fate (It's Square, but nobody's heard of it. That's, like, a paradox)

SWAT Kats (Action/RPG/Shmup mix. Nice.)

Pokemon Ruby (As Tubs once said, kiddy factor set aside, the battle system is AWESOME)

Skies of Arcadia (Best GCN RPG by a long shot)

Phantasy Star II (Wonder why I'm the only VGFer who liked this one...)

Phantasy Star IV (My favorite Genesis game to date)

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

I heard the first RPG was based on D&D and was invented in the 70's by the same guy who worked on the Intellivision? I think that was Gameinformer I read that from.
