True. What's interesting is the Japanese voice industry is all made up of well known names in Japan, while ours doesn't have household names (and frankly I'd like it to stay that way. The last thing Billy West needs is a house in Hollywood Hills, and I don't think he wants one). -CSM

^because there's more of an industry for voice-acting in Japan than there is in America, whereas singing (c)rap music, playing sports, being insulted by Simon Cowell on American Idol, or being a furniture-destroying Scientologist gets more attention.

^ I'd have to agree, where 3 of the 5 things you listed is worse than voice acting IMO.

About voice acting in video games?
I WOULD rather leave it to my Imagination, but hey it's "Progress".

^Basically, the point behind voice acting in games is to give a new dimension to playing video games, almost as if you are playing a movie. (With a User-interface clunked over everything)

Actually I mentioned only four.

First of all, I don't want to play a movie. I want to play a game. Movies are for watching, games are for playing! No playing movies!

Also, adding voice acting takes away the dimension its defenders say it adds. -CSM

I like playing a movie, but only if it's done right.

The voice acting in SF64 didn't add to or take away from the game. It was just there. -CSM

Oops, I thought that "(c)" seperated singing and rap music.
I should get my eyes checked and my head examined.
Then make that 3 out of 4 things.

It's including any singing or rap music...it includes both because "Crap" not only includes about 90% of rap but also crappy Boy Bands like 'Nsync or Backstreet boys.

I wasn't talking about the voice-acting, really. To me, that game simply felt like I was inside a movie.

FFX made me feel like I was watching one.

I don't know. It had some girl trying to escape from some insurance company and she lost her memory. I think it was called "My Funny Valentine." I only remember the name because I'm a jazzman and I remember playing that song. -CSM

Frankly, I grew up on cartoons being a source of humor. I really haven't seen a good cartoon drama except for Tintin, and even then there was a lot of humor. -CSM

^What about Akira?

And...BLISTERING BARNACLES! SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS ABOUT TINTIN! Yeah, I remember reading those comics and laughing out loud at some of them. (Castafiore Emerald mostly, as well as the little plaster-gag in Calculus Affair)
